You can do that engine swap in Forza motorsports.......I had a CL-s with ~670HP and over 500 ft-lbs torque.....it was fucking useless to drive, though

i believe its due to cost purposes and SOHCs are probably easier to engineer and design then DOHCs...

for the most part i dont think it really matters for a 6 cylinder.

economics and reliability. dohc costs more to build and more parts subject to failure.

plus they were probably trying to keep to the 276hp pact that japan manufacturers had.

and also they figured the weak tranny they used probably wouldn't be able to take all that power.

Cost and driveability. I can't imagine 300 plus HP on a front driver.

I did the same thing.... I added a few decals to the left and right sides, and that seemed to help little

You want DOHC so bad, buy your little del-slo and do a DOHC swap on that. The CL seems to be doing fine with SOHC. All-motor is a testament to that.

I'm sorry, but this is one of the dumbest things I've heard. No offense

THe CL was strictly for the U.S. so their little 276hp pact would not have made a difference. Hell, most of the supercars built by the Japanese dyno way too high to only be 276 hp, so its nothing new that they don't really care to push the limits.

No offense, but the car never had JDM intentions... designed and built in the US from day 1. Horsepower restrictions don't apply here; for that matter they really don't apply in Japan either.

I don't really see the benefit of DOHC when you are FI... air + fuel + spark = Power. On an NA car, you can fine-tune a DOHC much more to extract power. Obviously on a race-car even if it is FI, you want tunability!

Lightbulb

Did someone mention the 5AT problem. The current 5AT tranny can't take the 190 real front HP without shooting craps. What would 300 plus HP do????????

Yes, but if you notice the 60ft times are horrible on these cars with 260HP or 300HP+. I looked at track times and decided that boost was a waste of money on FWD unless you race from a roll everytime.

It's all about traction (and therefore good tires).

Even 3400lb RWD 300whp cars such as LS1 Transmarobirds have traction issues.

Put a sticky tire on any car and you can cut sub-2.0 60' times, period.

Nope..... I put slicks on and could barely muster a 2.0. It's a combination of suspension and tire
