So I'm doing 130mph down the FL turnpike...
2am last night coming back from Orlando. Now it's totaly dark, no cars around, I have my dash lighting low. About 30 min in, I see this bright yellow dash light come on, I slam on the brakes. Scared the hell out of me. First thought was OMG I broke soemthing, then I looked a little closer & it was that stupid Maintance required light. It's been blinking for some time on startup. I know it stays lit after it hits the 7500 or so mile mark. I didn't know it could stay lit as your moving. What a dumb design!
Is it a bulb or an led? Since I can't disable it, I want to take the light out.

dude calm down
hold down the two buttons on your desh above the key SEL and RESET ? I forget the names. While holding them down together start the car. The light will reset and not come on again till 7500

Dude! Change your oil already! I can see it now, you're driving along, doing oh, I don't know, 147mph maybe and all of the sudden

You guys try driving that fast for an extended period of time in the darkness of night then having this BRIGHT yellow light pop on from the dash, while driving in the middle of no where with a dead cell phone & no charger 200 miles from home all while your tired cause you haven't sleep for God knows how long.
The idiot light doesn't take in to account 5K mile oil changes....
So anyone know if I can pull a fuse, or cut a wire that will disable it?

I know this may sound simple, but if you look in your owner's manual it tells how to reset the Maint. Req'd light. I'm pretty sure all you have to do is shut the car off, turn it on and hold in the reset and the other button(can't remember what it is offhand, right next to the guages) for like 20 secs and it resets the light. It's really no big deal and it only takes about 30 secs total to reset it. Mine freaked me out the first time it came on and i looked in the manual to see what it was for and how to reset it. It's been off ever since.

Frickin granny shifting traffic in the NYC/NJ area is 24/7.
