ok time to break the news

well let me explain why i am so disappointed

i ran the car with the same mods and same conditions 20k miles ago but with stock tires and original transmission the weather was a lot more humid the last time i was at the track and at least 10 degrees warmer.

my best time that day was 14.9

i want to say that i could have done better if i had less gas and didnt have a passenger and had better tires. all my launches i had pretty bad wheel hop so all those variables cost me .2-.3 of a second

LAST NIGHT

my best time was 15.64

and i hit 16.0 FOUR times!!!!

the weird thing was the launch. Unlike last time i had no wheel hop but the car felt sluggish it 1st gear until i hit vtec then i was really moving.

its amazing i have never really felt vtec before and this was the first time i could actually pin me back to my seat!

so im thinking now it has to do with the the tranny and ecu changes. this is my 3 time at the track with the cl-s and everytime i have really bad wheel hop. Now i know i have better tires this time but the damn car would not move in 1st gear until i hit vtec...

i love my car but i just want it to blow up right now!!!!!

and for more bad news i only won 1 offical race last night against a bike! he launched too early and i won by default

what drives me nuts is that when i ran the 15.6 i was going against mustangs and wrx that were hitting 11's

when i went against a dodge ram HEMI he hit 15.7 and i hit 16.0 so no matter what i was going to lose all night long!!!!!

let me be more specific. total 2 people in the car for combined weight 300 pounds. and what do you mean cutting a light

i already mentioned that the last time i was at the track same condition with the gas and same passenger my best time was 14.9 and it was hotter and more humid that day too plus i had stock tires.

im just trying to say that my car has gotten considerably slower. and im starting to think it has to do with the tranny...

Usually it's the actuator stopped working when a CLS is running that slow.

initially thats what i thought but dosent the actuator only open up when you hit vtec? i know there was nothing wrong when vtec kicked in

also i checked it this morning and seems fine...

Nope, it opens at 3800 RPM, the VTEC change over is 4800 RPM.

Cutting a light he means a better reation than your opponant. I recently beat a modded impala ss at the track due to my reation. I ran a 14.9 he ran a 14.6, but I had a.087 reation to his .437 so I beat him at the end. That sucks You can't run with people in your car and expect good times unless you have the s/c. plus your imrc might be faulty. It could be not closing which is affecting your low end grunt and just staying open on the high end side.

correct me if im wrong but reaction time and 1/4 time are not related if you are just want to know how fast you can do the quarter mile?

also i understand what people are saying about people and weight blah blah blah

my point is simple i ran the same conditions except better tires last night but i got worse time!

This really sounds like the IMRC or actuator is dead. It will create a dead spot in the low end/midrange.

Jesus man that's brutal, especially with all your mods.

Get some of that gas out of there and have your buddy watch from the stands next time.

i guess most of yall are missing the point!

so let me break it down like this 2nd time at the track 14.9 Last night at the track 15.6 same variables within the car but better tires and cooler weather.

I have yet to make a special trip to the track to get the numbers i wanted the last 2 times that ive gone i was just in the area and both times i had a full trunk and passenger. oh and i just filled up too.

so what im trying to say is SINCE IVE HAD MY NEW TRANSMISSION MY CAR IS SLOWER!!!

I think your actuator is malfunctioning as well. Also, after getting better tires my wheelhop all but disappeared. If you are feeling too slow in the bottom end, maybe add about 1500rpm's of torque-braking. See if that helps.

More important than the ET is the mph, are you down on mph significantly?

Also you say you had lotso f wheelhop before, but arent you 5AT? I thought the auto's had an easy time launching? And you actuator can be malfunctioning and you'll still feel VTEC. The actuator is the valve that opens at 3800 rpm inside the intake manifold. If it is staying open it will kill your intake velocity at lower engine speeds, which will hurt hp between idle-4k rpm, if its not opening it will hurt your top end pull because the intake will be choked off above 4k.

Go back to the track with 1/8th tank of gas, no spare/jack, no passengers, and sub 75* weather and see what you can run. If its still in the 15's then there is def something wrong.

Yeah the trap speed is what we ned to know here. obviously there is something wrong with the car and I honestly don't think its the new tranny. I know you checked but it sounds like an actuator problem from people's past experiences.

I also have the new transmission with the "de-tuned" () PCM installed. Been that way for about a year now. I run quicker and faster than anyone (with 1 or 2 exceptions) that is N/A with similar mods.

I wouldn't put 100% of the blame on your transmission.
