Snow: CL or CL-S

I've decided that I want to buy a CL!! In choosing between the CL or the CL-S, I want to buy the one which will handle better in the snow (less sliding, wheel spinning, etc.).

The dealership told me to go with the CL (as opposed to the CL-S), because the tires are less wide, and it has less torque. Therefore, the CL will handle better in inclement weather. This seems contrary to what I would typically believe. Any comments??

THANK YOU!!!

handle better in snow. cl-s is better..cause cl-s has vsa which cl does not have...all speed traction and stability..cl only has traction which works only below 18 mph

Cool, Type S. I wanted to buy the San Marino Red, so that makes my decision even easier. Type S it will be.

Get yourself and extra set of 16" TL rims w/dedicated snows like I did and you will have the best of both worlds.
Mine went through some DEEP SHIT this past winter without a problem.

Bridgestone BLIZZAK MZ-02
They were about 80 bucks apiece from Tire Rack.

Shawn, What did ya think of them, big difference in traction?

I was thinking of using my stock rims for the winter and maybe SSR comps with toyo's for summer.

With the snows there is a world of difference with traction.
The stock tires are OK if you don’t have hilly areas, but I live in a remote area on top of a long and winding road that doesn’t get plowed too often.
Drive SLOOOOOOW with the stock rubber and watch the turns.
VSA helps a ton.

With the BLIZZAK’s on, it rides like a Plymouth Grand Fury III station wagon.
The tread is like jelly so it definitely kills the sport feel of the car.

That’s not the important part though.
What’s important is getting home to my rural house in the middle of a snowstorm.
Plus the road salt won’t wreck my 17” rims.

That tradeoff is better then having to drive around a bouncy SUV in the summer time when the temperature is 90-degrees.

I dont know if this applies to you east coast people but I remember that
chains can be put on a CL, but it's not recommended on the CL-S
