Smoked a big Lex

In MD., sitting in the left turn lane about to turn onto
PA ave. This LS400(88-89) is sitting in front of me, light turns
green he goes, I go, but now he tries to leave me putting
2-3 car lengths between us, but I catch back up
before the next light. Pull up next to him, and when
the light turns green, i hit it. Out of 1st, i already
got him by a car,so by the time I'm doing 80 in 3rd, he's
like 8-9 lengths back, shuts it down and makes a right
turn at the next street.

what kind of cl you got, what mods, a stock cl-s wont put 8-9 car lengths on a ls400, he'll start gaining on you when we go into 3rd gear

The year he quote, 88-89, there was no such thing as a LS400. They didn't come around until 92-93 I think. Don't quote me on that. But I could see a stock cl putting car lengths (8-9 might be a little exagerrated though) on a LS250.

You might want to check your facts before posting:

Lexus History

" January 1989
The LS 400 and ES 250 are unveiled to the world at Detroit and Los Angeles auto shows. "

There was no Lexus selling body in '88, it was in the development stages. Lexus started selling cars in '89.

Take it easy, it was a LS400 , i know the body style when i
see it.Remember, i said i beat him from the light so the
distance kept growing and i can't speak to how good the
driver was.

My cl is a manual and stock.

The LS400 is a very quick car for its size, no doubt! I could see him getting one off the line! but not pulling 8 something car length on it .....$hit I don't think I could pull that many on one with all my mods!

Dude, a guy in a 1989 LS 400 was not racing you. You left him 9 car lengths behind bacause he was plugging in his cell phone charger and not paying you ANY attention.

I don't think you can even do that to a stock Civic LX, let alone a LS400, despite what year LS.

Didn't I say don't quote me? September 1989
The LS 400 and ES 250 go on sale, so that would make it an 89-90 model, bfd I was off on the year it was made, which I said I didn't know off head......and you are right, there was no such thing as an 88-89 LS400, which was my orginal point
