I bought those cheap rotors:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWN%3AIT

They are cheap, but the seller got an excellent feeback! Why go with those cheap one... NO NOMEY to get anything better.!

I will report as soon as they are installed.

Are you sure they'll fit?

I thought the TL rotors where slightly different than ours.

I would not trust ebay feedback for rotors... why?? Because people give feedback as soon as they receive the item. However, the rotor can crack after 30 days and you can't go change the feedback you left! hahaha... I wouldn't buy rotors off of ebay, unless it's a known brand

Those are spec for my CLS:

Braking System Dual-diagonal, power assisted, 4-wheel disc brakes
Front Discs Ventilated, 11.8 in. (300 mm) diameter; 1.1 in. (28 mm) rotor thickness
Rear Discs Solid, 11.1 in. (282 mm) diameter; 0.35 in. (9 mm) rotor thickness
Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) 3.2CL - 3-channel system with 4 wheel speed sensors and electric/hydraulic control
Type S - 4-channel system with 4 wheel speed sensors and electric/hydraulic control
Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) Throttle control, fuel control, and 2-channel brake control utilizing yaw, lateral g, speed and steering sensors for traction control and stability enhancement (available on the Type S only.)

What are those of TL?

I ordered Metal Master Pads (Semi Metalic), I expect to recieve them next Monday.

My Bill so far:
$192 for the above front and rear rotors shipped.
$85 for Axxis Meetal Master Semi Metalic front and rear Pads, shipped
I am budgeting $120 for the installation unless I do it myself.

I have one question, the inner vents are not curved but rather straight and pointing to the center. It seems that both rotors are identical and each can be a left or a right rotor. I will be installing the rotors so that slots/crossdrilled are poniting outward. If this is not the correct way, please let me know.

the slots should face toward the FRONT of the car like this \

The rotor sitting in the box in the first pic would be a PASSENGER side rotor, or at least this is how its done with the Rotoras.

The slots -- not vanes -- are generally oriented in one direction or another depending on the manufacturer's "thoughts"/"design."

There is a thread around here that gets into the slot issue.

As for the vanes:

http://www.stoptech.com/faq/data/faq16.html

AND:

http://www.brembo.com/ENG/Performanc...yStandard1.htm

There are 3 different ventilation types in use:
• Straight vanes
• Curved vanes
• Pillars

The straight vanes and the pillars are non-directional, and can be used on either side of the vehicle. The curved vane disc, however, is directional. A curved vane disc must be installed with the vanes running back from the inside to the outside diameters in the direction of rotation. Orienting the disc in the manner, creates a centrifugal pump. The rotation of the disc causes air to be pumped from the center of the disc, through the vanes, and out through the outside diameter of the disc. This enhances the disc’s ability to dissipate heat On some OEM applications, this standard is not satisfied: the use of directional discs means to manage two codes (left and right) per axle with some extra cost therefore it happens that a car manufacturer can use the same disc with curved vanes on both sides, losing part of the benefit in balance with lower costs.

as for the weight of those rotors, using my trusted digital bath room scale:

All 4 rotors in the box: 58 lbs!!
Front Rotor: 19 lbs each.
Rear Rotor: 10 lbs each.

Very heavy stuff!

Wow...each tire/wheel/brake caliper/rotor/pads and suspension part on each corner weight something like a 100 lbs! wheel/tire/rotors and pads alone are some 75 lbs!

My tire\wheels\lugnuts weigh 42.5 a corner, rotoras are 18lbs front, so 60.5lbs in rotational weight. I've heard cutting a pound of rotational weight is like saving eight pounds on the car itself.

Today, my CLS is at the local honda dealer for the rotors/pads installation: cost is $120 at 4hrs @ $30/hr for an employee cost.

Man... that is a lot, my Trusted Tech said he does the job in less than 2hrs for actual time!

My Acura dealer quoted me $390 for rotors, pads, and ss lines... $120 is a steal.

My first initial review..

I had some squeaks once coming to a full stop while driving around the parking lot. The pads were like biting and squwaking which is expected from new rotors and pads.

I intend to season the rotors by driving and braking gently for like a few days. Then, I will bed the pads by doing repeated heating and couling cycles.

I noticed that there is a black soot (like carbon deposit) on the rotors after driving for a 35 miles trip. That is normal too.

There was inital extra bite to the pads but I am trying to be gentle with those rotors/pads.
