Skids ... Traction Woes... Pics...
Sorry for the shitty quality but my digicam blowz in the dark... This is why I think the S03's bite ass... from where I pull into my development to the first stop sign is about 200ft ... this is what happens if i try a 1/2 throttle launch with 225-45-17 S03's that are 6 weeks old and have less then 1500 miles on them.. not that my old yoko's were any better but WTF????
Another View looking back the other way....
and finally the corner of despair....
The last pic is the right I make after a another stop sign ... Yeah my neighbors love me...
Im getting the Bridgestone RE730's tomorrow and returning the S03's to firestone after I told them they sucked ass and were overpriced peices of trash... The Manager didnt beleive me they smoked that bad on the CLS so i took him in the lot and showed the jackass with him in the car... ill grab a pic tomorrow of their lot ..... also I'll try and make a vid before I go of the Mosquito killing smoke machine LOL

Yeah, if you do that with some Toyo T1S Proxies, you should get a dyno for that sucker (or find out what their mixing into the pavement where you live).
I don't know if you got one, but every now and again, you can get a "dud"...
Years ago, I got a set of Semperit tires (the dealer gave me a 50-mile free trial) and said the tires were the "best". I drive out of the lot, and it feels like I'm on "ice". The tires look like they are made completely of "release" compound. I drove 10-miles on them, took them up to a new/unused cul-de-sac to run opposing figure eights, after seeing that they didn't improve, I brought them back and there was no tread left on the tires. It seems they made the tire completely out of release compound. (Also, had to take the “dealer” for a ride…)
If you are going to do mostly straight-line "pulls", perhaps you should get some Nitto-555R drag radials and see if you can smoke those. (they are a bit big at 245/45-17)

I just happend to be looking at tirerack today at the very same tires and was wondering if the were really worth the price over the RE730, which actually are not that much different in price but have a lower treadwear rating than the RE730..
although most of the reviews give the S03 better in wet/dry conditions..

TheModMole, when I used to have S-02PP's (probably need to update my sig), I found that they were extremely sensitive to pressure variation. After a lot of experimentation, I found that a psi more to 38psi literally made the supertire difference from 37psi. Understand that the "recommended" tire pressure for the IS300 is something like 32psi.
Not that S-03's can be directly compared to S-02PP's, and not that the two cars are at all similar either, but did you play around with tire pressures, esp. ones much higher than what was recommended?

Try them on a road course or auto-x and you will appreciate them.

I mean, seriously, what do you expect? You say that you are launching at half throttle, I wouldn't expect many tires to take that, especailly since the front end of the CL will lighten up and further decrease traction. Yet you keep the throttle planted and heat up the tires ruining what chance they have of ever hooking up

The S-03s won't get as hard at the end of life. They are very new tires and are using the latest and best technology for a "road" tires. I really don't think these would best serve someone doing 1/4-miles; if you are going for cornering, braking, all-around wet/dry and mixed surface traction, they would be a good choice (I still like the Toyos too).
The S03’s compound is softer in the center (for rain) and the compound at the edges in harder for dry cornering (Michelin is doing something similar [yet different] with their Pilot A/S tires).
They are qualified as max performance tires and the re-730s and ultra-high performance tires.
If you play in the hills, a lot of people like them...
A dedicated drag radial will be designed for one thing – most straight-line traction under forward acceleration.

There are many ways to trash tires, try locking your e-brake and doing a full throttle launch. It does wonders for the tread life on the front tires not to mention that flat spot on the rears...

ohh boy here we go... before we started the flaming.... that 260 was a typo.. its uhhmnn actually 60HP to the wheels .... and my 1/4's are performed downhill in gale force winds behind me while being pulled by a viper...... You never saw that number ... it was an apparation.. a mirage... we all know its impossible to put 260+ to the tires w/o nitrous.. its an unequivical mathamatical fact
Ignore ->
These were done by a US production Accord V6 ITR Type S

By the time something is realeased we'll be forced to drive electric vehicles.
Hrmmm, and Comptech will be releasing a roots style centrifugal blower soon...JK

Although I haven't seen dyno plots or time slips, I have no reason to doubt either way, for the time being.
Power can always be made from any car, I completely beleive in that...

Scalbert,
If you want to talk about this in pm Ill give you a better and more detailed breakdown of what has been done in the morening.. Its just a matter of history that I dont want to bring up details, drawing, explanations and the like.. not trying to be an ass just trying to avoid some inevitable headaches and flaming

But I do find the mentioning of items as mystery parts can lead to some head aches in their own right, you just had to make a choice. But IMO, there would never be a need for drawings, explanations or explicit details (and really shouldn't be provided), most would not understand them anyway. I doubt A'pexi provides circuit diagrams on the V-AFC, but they did mention it and gave the basics of what it will do prior to it being released years ago.
But either way, take what I'm say as just some friendly jabber, it's just meant for fun.

Scalbert ... one word Puuullleeeasseee ! LOL you could rewrite most of Helms I have no doubt you could do nothing worse then improve anything I have done ! LOL
But yeah it is all in good fun... Im not out to stir up the pot (too much ) .. Anytime you wanna exchanges ideas Im game.. lord knows I may learn something lol

I ignore bullshit cries for attention to someone's mods when try to be cute about it
Here let me paraphrase this entire thread for you guys:
ModMole: "I have secret mods and I want to brag about them and entice you but not tell you what they are or if/how you can get them, so I'm going to show you pictures of me wasting a lot of rubber on a street and pretend the thread is about tires."
Got it? Good. Next thread....

IOW, if you just wanted to PM a couple people here, do that. No need to be an ass and post this thread and not tell the rest of us wtf is up. Stop wiping shit in our face and then handing a couple specific people handiwipes while the rest of us sit here smeared.
Tell it straight or fuck off, Xephyr.
And don't try to pull the "who me?" shit either. You know wtf you're doing so cut it out.
