shredded S/C belt

I'm not that mechanically inclined but how hard should this be to replace? It seems like it should be pretty simple but I cant seem to get it. The tensioner pully was put on really tight and I can get those two little bolts loose. Does the pulley come off the shaft?

loosen the two tensioner plate bolts and the tensioner pulley slides right up. then just slide the new belt in and hold the tensioner as hard as you can while you tighten the tensioner plate bolts back up. and to answer your question, yes the pulley comes off the shaft with a size 19 wrench and a 1 1/2 wrench.

Thanks for the reply. I think those two plate bolts were torqued way too much. How exactly does the pulley come off? I used a socket and wrench to get the nut off the end but then what?

You shouldn't need to take off the pulley to change the belt. If you do, you're doing something wrong. Just because you can take the pulley off doesn't mean you should. In the case you do pull off the pulley, don't loose the key.

Here are the instructions to the SC. Page 9 has the instructions for installing the belt. Hope this helps.

ok thanks. I didn't think I should need to take the pulley off. I wasn't aware I needed a key either so I guess it's a good thing I didn't try to force it off. Problem is that I rounded off one of the bolts and not sure how to get it loose now.

nevermind. I found my vise grips, messed the bolt up some more but it eventually came loose.
