Should the interior lights stay on?

I didnt notice the car door wasnt completely shut when I left my car. When I returned to the car a couple hours later I noticed the light on the inside door panel was on (prior to opening the door). I thought all the lights were suppose to turn off after a certain amount of time.

I wonder why? My truck lights go out after a couple minutes whether the doors are open or not. You dont have to worry about draining the battery when your cleaning the interior.

I don't think you can do that much cleaning in the interior long enough to drain a [good] car battery.

If you turn on the interior dome, it will spend the rest of it's life on forever...or longer.

In my old car I drained the battery many times by not completely closing the center console which had a light in it. Those little bulbs draw more current than you think.

Like he said GOOD car battery. A battery can test at around 12 volts using a meter by if you cycle the battery excessively, like from a high powerered sound system, a 5 watt bulb can possibly drain a battery, but not a good one.....

talk about inconsistency...the overhead dome light shuts off after a while, but the door lights stay on...kinda defeats the purpose, huh??

It's like it was said.. the lights shut off when the car doors are closed properly. The domelight doens't shut off, rather it dims off. U didn't leave the map lights on did you?
