Should I Sell The CLS6?

Alright, I got an opportunity here to pick up a clean white '06 TL 6MT with very low mileage for a good deal from a family friend.

I've always liked the TL.. it's newer, nicer looking, more practical, and a lot easier to mod. But then it's back to another bone stock car.

I got a lot of money dumped into the CL and I still love her to death (love-hate relationship, but still more love). I also got a lot of mods sitting around ready to go on, such as the TL lip kit, RL BBK, etc.

Here's where I gotta make a decision, I either gotta sell the CL now before I dump another 2-3k on her this summer, or keep it. The way I see it, if I install the RL BBK and mould the TL lip kit on, there's no way I can sell the CL after (too much $$$ invested).

I love the CLS6, I look forward to getting in the driver's seat every time. Mines is at 210,000km (~130,000miles), with new clutch, timing belt and some mods (comptech exhaust, aem intake, ur pulley, tein coilovers, ingalls camber kits, rsx wheel, pioneer double-din, etc.).

I dunno, I need some advice from my fellow A'Ziners, what would you guys do? I figure I can get like 5-6k for the CL tops.

I Was Dead Set On selling Before The Winter. I Just Won't Get Enough Money For It Now.I'm Likely Going To Keep Mine Now.

I would:
1) Sell CL;
2) buy TL;
3) mod with peace of mind knowing that you will have a newer, more practical daily driver going into your mid-late twenties;
4) buy a nice, impractical toy down the road.

This is exactly my thought process.

If it's worth mentioning, the TL that's available to me can be had for 5-6k (what I expect to get from the CL) and only has 130,000km !!

I think you should keep the CLS6 at your age you can probably worry about practicality a little later. But if you have always like the TL better and think it looks better than I think you should move on because I'm a former owner of a 2008 TL and I still like the CLS better but as they say too each their own.

if the cl is paid off sure why not, but if you have a 6 speed i'd keep it, but that's just me.

That Is A Good Deal On The TL Though. Those Are Nice Cars, But Everyone And Their Mother Has One.

I'll stick with the cl just because its MT, it still catches eyes and with the emblems off ppl still ask me what type of car is it. Makes the car still feel relevant

VA is just as far or farther because I bought my current CL just outside of VA and I live in Socal and the drive was a little over 2800 miles. If you don't want to do a roadtrip then you can have it shipped.

Virginia; Toronto; Give you a chance to see the country. You could fly out & drive back (May need a passport for Canada now, not sure). Also might be a headache to get a Canadian car retitled in states (not sure on this either). But if you were to drive through Wichita on your way back you might stop and say hi.

i know if i were to bring a US car back to Canada, all you need are daytime running lights and the paperwork. Yes you'll need a passport, but you should have one anyways.

Indeed the ad is up: http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehi...AdIdZ470848999

I got some guys e-mailing me (not sure how serious yet). There's someone here lurking that wants some of my parts lol.

Coilovers I can't do since I don't have stock suspension to go back to. Double-Din maybe, although there's a lot better stereo options than the AVIC-F900bt that I have. If you want a full RL BBK I can hook you up with that

@mikebikelife doubts you wanna come north of the border considering you're out in Vegas? If civicdrivr is selling that's probably the #1 CL to get, 300+ whp and it's clean too.

I won't be selling off any parts just yet. Not until I have a buyer for my car. It's still 50/50 I keep the CL if I don't get an offer I'm happy with. Appreciate the interest though.

In any event, consider them sold if you do part the car out.

Damn I miss the CL already.. the drive-by-wire throttle on the TL 6MT is driving me crazy. I hate it.

All I gotta say is if you have a clean 6-speed, cherish that car.. there's nothing else like it. Not G35's, not TL's, not RSX/TSX, new Accords.. nothing. All these cars I would consider in a similar range as the CL, and the CL was way more fun than all of them.

Could have told you that! My gf owns an 06 tl and while it's a great car, I cannot stand the dbw after never have driven other than a cable driven tb. No plans to ever sell the cl. In my eyes it's truly a rare, timeless piece of honda history!

I feel you man. I wish I had known about the CLS6 a couple years earlier when there was more parts and activity related to the car. The lack of aftermarket support killed the enthusiasm for the CL.

TL even in 6-Speed form is just a different car. CL had a very raw feel, a very engaging experience.. I loved it. The TL is too refined for my taste, too smooth, just not really a driver's car.

None the less, it was a fun experience and I learned so much from owning the CL. I'll never forget her. I'll still be day dreaming of 2nd/3rd gear redline pulls, rev-matching dropshifts and the beautiful note of the Comptech exhaust.. sigh

Its called the beige effect, every car maker is doing now these days, the only thing I test drove lately that even made me feel excited was a 2013 shelby gt 500, it literally scared the shit out of me, now I just need to figure if I can sell an organ to get it.

If the CL is in good shape and mechanically sound, keep driving it and save yourself the cash expedature for something nicer down the road. OP just put a lot of $$ into it for T-belt and clutch, might was well fix the other outstanding issues.

130K on that car is not much

and BTW that '06 is 7 years old and will need a timing belt within the next few years due to age...

EDIT: I see you got the TL, nice car hope it lasts you a long time.
