Well in my opinion u cant rally compare these cars. A Cobra is a totally different car, cause it is soooo powerful. The CL is a luxury coupe. I would keep the CL. I think it is a kick ass car. U buy the SC for $4k and your car will be sick as hell.

SVT. I looked at it for a little while. Lotta snot for the money.

CLS. More refined. Still sounds like an '86 ford bronco with all the rattles though.

Hmmm, any way you could keep both???

If you get the cobra, you'd better get a beater car for the rain, sleet, snow, ice....crap wit dat much power you will NOT be able to drive that car in anything but dry weather. Especially, where you are.

Good luck.

get the S/C.....you will still pull low to mid 13's and now many cars will touch you on the Highway???? I think you would be nuts to get the cobra.

Definitely get enough for a beater for the snow...the stang will probably do ok in the rain, with some wets on it, but no chance in teh show...(seeing snows ons that car would make me cry)

Cobra or a CL-S...Wow, talk about comparing totally different classes of cars. On one hand you have a pure brute muscle coupe and on the other you have a classy, yet decently quick luxury coupe. I guess there are arguments for both...but I think it depends on what you really want. Personally, I'd consider the following: which car is more practical (i.e. miles per gallon)? which car has a better track record on reliability (well yes, the 2001 CLs have lousy trannys)? which is safer?

To me, the obvious choice is to stick to the Acura because I think it really has more to offer. Of course, I've never driven a Cobra (nor do I really care to), but isn't it really just a fast car and THAT'S IT? I mean, really just how practical is it to buy a car that accelerates a whole second (or a few hundredths of a second) faster in exchange for the comforts and other luxuries the CL-S offers? And yes, I believe that there are probably lots of people here on the forums that own a Ford as a second or third car. But, doesn't this company have a rather bad rep for making lousy vehicles (and no, I'm not really trying to start a war of words with anyone over the reliabilities of Ford cars)? It's interesting because over hear, many people refer to Ford as "Found On Russian Dumpster" or "Fix Often Repair Daily" cars...Well, that's my two cents...

rob think about it, the stang is fast and thats all it is, the acura can get into the low 13's and has xenons, heated seats, cd changer, etc and you can drive it in the snow

An 03' Cobra is an awesome car. Its $34K and as fast as a Viper, and there is a ton of aftermarket parts for it. For like a G or two you can get into the high 11's. They are different types of car, but if you are looking for neck snapping tourque(which you can't get from an import) and the ability to mod the hell out of it....cheap, get the Cobra. I would also get a second car.....400+ hp in the snow=death!!!!

With the Cobra .... more gas, more tires, more insurance, more noise, much more power. If you can live with it, go for it. My cousin just got a pulley, software, x-pipe. His Cobra will spin 3rd gear from a roll. It is a nicely built car.

A Ford Mustang?
I'd stay with the CL-S.

Rob w/o spending the money for a s4 you will be hardpressed to find a car that will give you a nice blend of everything.

You could buy a used a6 2.7t. It has the same internals as the s4.

the wrx is definately not slow after 60 with about as much money as you paid for headers and exhaust. a friend of my brothers has one with a boost controller, up-pipe, intake, and a 3.5"exhaust that will hang with 600cc sportbikes and pretty much walk away from 2k3 svt's on the highway. with 3 people in the car we were neck and neck with a mid 90's 600cc ninja.

Yes, if you want performance then get rid of your cl-s. Get STI or EVO8.

Rob, get the WRX...j/k (you seem to dislike those so I just wanted to throw it in)!

You can make an S4 a 12 sec car (it'll cost a pretty penny though). I like the looks of the Cobra and all the power but never sat in one so I can't comment otherwise.

Gee Willis this doesnt seem so hard, does it? You can soup up the Acura and you have a luxury car that not many people have or you can a mustang whether or Cobra or not there is so many of those damn things on the road. I would also like to add that I think they are changing the body of the mustang for 2005-so at least you should wait until then.

The good and bad things that I can think of about my pervious 99 Cobra:
Good: fast in 0-60, 1/4 miles, fun to drive, and Mach 360 system.
Bad: recall four time within a year, gas (about 10-13mpg for me), weather (rain and snow), resale value, and much much more.

Ok, take it from a previous lightning owner. Any V8 blown will kill you on gas. Second, Ford's customer service is terrible. They don't know what loaner cars are. You will hate bringing it in for work. My Lightning got no better than 10MPG. I have a friend with an 04 Cobra getting roughly the same. If you want power like that, buy a used Vette, maybe an 01 Z06 for about 35K. that is big balls and good fuel economy. By the way, mid 90's ninja 600's are fucking turds. Don't compare a car to that peice of shit.

Yeah, get a used vette... Although they're not really driveable in the winter.

My suggestion exactly!!! This is the reason that I got my CL. It's an affordable, everyday driving car that gives me everything I want except for a v8. But most importantly, it allows me to save up for a c6 vette.

I'm partial to the brute muscle cars and they are the only way to go if you want that kind of power. They drive differently than any other type of sports car, which is one reason why some people are drawn to them.

the wrx is running 18 psi so i doubt the cobra will eat it.
the ninja 600 will run high 11's low 12's and all i was saying was that a wrx with 3 people in the car and around $12-1300 in mod's stayed right next to it.

anyway id have to agree with a Z06.

man, just get the supercharger. If it turns out to not meet your power needs, you can always sell it(supercharger) and the depreciation on that compared to lost $$ in swapping cars would be well worth giving your CLS one more chance.
