I know more of you would tell me yes since you already have one. I like the Cl alot also but i dont want to take the chance with the transmission. What is the percentage of me having tranny problem if i get a used one? thanks

I didn't know about the tranny problem when I bought my CLS. I first learned about it while reading the forums on this board.
The next day after reading about the tranny I went to my local Acura dealer to discuss. I was told 2%-3% of the of the CL's would experience this problem. If it doesn't happen before 15,000miles, it probably won't happen. I don't know how true this is, but thought I would pass along what was told to me by Acura.
I bought my 01 CLS with 9,000miles. I now have 22,000miles and the only problem I am having are with the rotors. I am going in to have them re-surfaced for the second time in 6 months.
In other words, go get it, you'll love the car.

About 25% of auto Cl's and Tl's will have tranny issues . Don't worry (100,000 mile warranty) , besides they actually updated the new units and so far we've had no problems .

No car has flaws..........it is all about workmanshp and design........the transmission issues were a design issue.........get a new CL or a used one........why worry about something when there is such a small percentage of transmission failure........from what I have read, there are more documented issues with the new generation Vette and maintenance issues with BMW's combined than the reliability of HONDA transmissions.

maybe so, but my cousin and i have owned german and american muscle cars and we both agree that for the money around 30K there is no better car on the market with the relability, value and performance than the TL or CL.........in owning M series maintenance was high given the price you pay upfront for them..........for a play care the M series can't be beat........used it for Rally racing, but for everyday driving, Japenese is the way to go and noone does it better than Honda.........by the way only 165 bad transmissions reported after the NTSHA open a case

i agree on the 6spd; its a completely different drive than the auto; just traded in my 01 CLS on Saturday for 03 6spd. New one seems more balanced and the tranny really lets you take advantage of a great engine. My 01 went 42k with no tranny problems at all

My understanding is that the 2003 automatic models don't have the tranny issue. So if you are going to get one, get a 2003 whether it is a 6 speed or auto.

CLS 6MT Navi
DFW's 01 trade in was white I think, I live in Austin. I think they had 2 used white ones there. I bought my used white 03 6 speed there this month. I hate to give them any more business because the used car salesman I had was a typical fast talker, said anything you want to hear. My price ended up over $1000-$1500 more than he had originally said.
My problem is I go in a sucker cause I love the car. I thought a used 03 6 speed was a rarity, and I got a 5 year warranty. so I wanted it.
Next time I either will record what they say or be more detached and walk away if I don't like their deal.

I would guess about 25K. The color is white with tan interior. It has tint and rear spoiler.
