Shifter Trim ?

OK, put in Momo knob and boot, but the gray trim plate around shift does not fit real well. I screwed the trim to the plastic retaining plate, but it still does not fit all that great. Any one else have this issue. Any suggestions? I was thinking velcro.

Thanks,

Mine was loose when I first did it. The sucker worked its way UP or fell down into the console after a few shifts.

I took it apart and cut (4) 1/2” slices into the BOOT near the elastic for those plastic tabs on that inner piece of white plastic to pass through for a better “grip” on the attached piece.
Sorry, no photos, but if you’ve had it apart you know what I’m talking about.

The outer silver trim ring is still a bit loose but it hasn’t moved in the last few weeks since I installed it.
There’s really nowhere to attach it to besides those four little tabs that are provided.
The only other way would be to remove the entire console and secure it more permanently from below.

Thanks. Actually, I did cut the boot as you suggested. That worked pretty well, but then the silver plate seperated from the inner plastic piece so I screwed those together, but it still fits crappy. I was thinking about running a strip of velcro around the entire thing to get a good fit.

That’s a good idea as long as it still “seats down” far enough.
The Velcro may add a gap under there unless you’re thinking of something different.
Maybe just one of those little Velcro “dots” on each corner.

Please let us know and take pictures if it works.

I will give it a try - by the way - nice car - I just checked out your pics. Is that upper tie bar worth it? How much?

Thanks, D-

The upper strut bar adds a bit, but it’s not as noticeable as the springs & sways were.
I paid around 110 for the bar locally and installed it myself.
For the price I think it’s worth it because a little extra stiffness up front is never a bad thing.

Is Neuspeed the best or have you seen any others which you think are better (now that you have the Neuspeed).
