Shift Knob for an 2003 CL 6-speed

Hey
I just bought a black 2003 CL Type S, and was looking into getting a sportier shift knob as my first purchase for the car. I really like the look of this Momo,

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...4466&rd=1&rd=1

but I've read in earlier posts that the fit isn't great for the CL's and they tear up the threading. Any input on how the Momo's fit? Do they rest lower than the stock knob? How is the connection between the knob and the stock boot?

And any ideas on better shift knobs? going for the ball type knob with not too much chrome

Thanks guys.

For that much money you can get the factory S-2000 knob. Screws right on and looks a lot better than the MOMO IMHO.

I went with a S2000 knob. Its nice and heavy...solid aluminum, it feels much better than stock. My roomie has a 6sp TL and I think the S2000 knob feels a bit more solid, but its a little smaller...depends on what feel you like.

if you're looking to shorten the actual shifter, shift knob wont really help you with that.

A short shifter is what you're looking for... Im not too familiar with what the 2nd gen market is like for one, but I've got one for my first gen and I'd have to say its definitely one of my favorite mods.

Naw, wasn't lookin for shorter shifting. I know that's one of the CL's strong points, so didn't wanna mess. Just don't like the bulky stock knob. I found a used 2006 Civic SI 6 speed OEM knob that looks pretty nice online. Might go with that route. Thanks for all the input guys, esp. for my first post

I just looked at the Civic knob, looks just like the TSX knob.
I like my TSX 6speed knob, similar to the S2000, has the black perforated leather and the shift pattern is in red, the S2000 is in black.

some of the momo looks nice, and they don't thread to the shaft. It uses 3 screws to hold the knob in place. I have momo in mine, along with the shift boot. I'll try to take some pics tonight ... i really like to look of it

I too have the same thing....and like the feel of it...plus the red makes it match the shift boot colors....and the leather will help once it gets hot/cold....to keep your hand for fully burning/freezing...

Any knob will work, you have to be creative with the boot. The boot will not fit right.

Mad props to the Hurst t-handle! LOL! I really hope you are joking. I have the '06 TL knob. The stock '03 cls6mt boot snaps directly to it with no modification and it looks so much better.

Is there a difference between the 07 TL Type S knob and the 04-06 TL knob? I was about to order it on acuraoemparts.com and both descriptions say "graphite black", but there is a price difference? I don't mind paying extra if I have to, but don't want to get suckered either. The Type S knob is actually cheaper...
