She's gone
She's gone
Pretty dramatic, huh? Yeah, I traded her in tonight. I’ve been eyeing a few new cars lately because it was just time to get something new. I usually do this every 3 years or so.
It was a toss up between a few newer models and one old one so what really matters was price. The final choices were the ’03 4Runner Limited w/ everything but the navi, the Nissan Murano, loaded and the Nissan Pathfinder.
As you can tell by my choices my driving style has changed over to something completely different. So finally, the Toyota dealer offered 21K for my CL w/ 37K miles and the deal was too good then. Maybe I could have sold it for more but I’m good with that. I got the 4Runner just above cost. I love this thing. It’s very different from the CL (duh
) but we own an Xterra so the switch wasn’t too harsh.
My wife was driving home in the CL and I was in the 4Runner (I still have to remove the stereo and other stuff before the dealer gets it) and I gotta tell ya, I got pretty nostalgic seeing it fly by… I’m really going to miss that car. Even w/ the tranny problem which was quickly repaired, it’s a solid performer and can’t be beat for the price.
My wife hated the Murano. She said it was too minivan-ish. The Pathfinder needs a serious update for the price they’re looking for. The 4Runner has always been a favorite but I couldn’t see owning one until now. The timing works out great with this new generation. I’m in love again.
Don’t get me wrong. I love this board too. I’m still going to hang out here. This place is one of the best car communities I’ve found!! But watch your back’s, the CL has a lot of competition now from what seems like every car maker out there. Enjoy the race!

Nice choice. I had a Runner before I got the CL and it had 150,000+ miles and ran like a champ. By far the toughest vehicle I've ever owned. I beat the crap out of 4 wheeling and it just never quit. Now get the TRD Supercharger and you'll have tons of fun....enjoy
Hey guys, thanks so much for the good wishes. This board is so active I had to goto page 2 to find this thread!!
I'll post some pics asap. Life's been filled w/ stuff and little free time. The ride is awesome, very solid! You know you're in a truck when you hit say a speed bump but it's very, umm... refinded when it bumps! It recovers nicely.
It's the limited V6, silver with gray interior, 245 hp @ 5,200 rpm
282 lb.-ft. @ 3,800 rpm, Multi-Mode 4-wheel drive with Torsen2 limited-slip center differential with locking feature, P265/65R17, Downhill Assist Control (DAC), Hill Start Assist Control (HAC), 115V AC power outlet and a ton of other cool little features.
There's no way my wife would get rid of her X!! She loves it!!
Don't worry, I'll take good pictures, inside and out.
Thanks again all!!
