Sh*tty gas mileage

They just reopened by corner Shell after a complete tank replacement, EPA inspection, whatever, and they have the new "V-power" pumps up and running. My car feels better after getting some week-ass Mobil gas-o-lean – I thought the car was gastrated.
I checked to see if the actuator had stopped working; it seemed to be ok on the Chevron. Maybe the local Mobil guy has a "special blend" for mediocre performance.I presume you still have the stock tires -- they suck in the grip department, but, IMO, sure are efficient in the MPG dept.

I only get 225 every day before my tank goes off, all city driving, driving hard. So thats like 16mpg. Well I just bumped the tire pressure on my contiextremecontact to 38psi to get rid of some of the sidewall flex and gas mileage is getting a beat down. Going back to 32psi.

And, I do the opposite...

The construction of the sidewall is pretty complex, and in general, the rule is to increase tire pressure for better mileage.
You should check your mileage a few times with the tires at different pressures.
There are some issues that are related to deformation losses that can cause a tire to increase its losses if the sidewall can't "flex" properly.

I did one time. My 01 Type S went 341 miles on a tank of Shell premium on a trip to Florida. That is the best it has ever done. Every trip since then it gets about 290 miles per tank. Around here driving to work and things like that I am lucky to get 240 miles per tank.
