Props to your skillz but hell if tommi makanen, carlos sanz<sp> and the other boys in WRC have a HUGE indicator as to which gear they are in i think it's ok for our cars to have them. It would be a great tool in car with manual transmissions.

They need them because they use sequential trannies. They aren't able to tell where the gears are by feel like a traditional manual tranny.

trade in value vs. new price

So you got a lil more than 24,500 and you payed what out the door for the new one? How many miles did you have...not trying to bite your style but I am getting the works done to my car in several weeks and i won't expect my car back for 5 months. This is my dream car but missing onne ingredient...stick!!! i bought my car in August and was told "Acura has no plans to make a stick version.." as soon as I heard I called my salesperson and lit them up. I got screwed...I could have waited...I am considering doing less to my car and sacrificing the difference in $$$$ for the stick. Hook me up, tell me what my deal might look like??? I AM ABSOLUTELY NOT willing to cover more than 2 g's in difference. Thanks. peace.

the car looks awesome, except for the pedals....
i would think that for such a nice caliber car they would put some nice aluminum pedals like the S2000 or IS300. Well, there is always Mugen pedals for $170.

very nice car Shawn S!!!

the brake and clutch pedals have rubber dots or other material to prevent slipping. the accelerator has holes, but is a little slippery.
on the S2000 all pedals have rubber dots.

Is there any functional advantage or is it just for appearance?

i don't quite see the logic in additing more of a redline area to 9K since we'll never journey remotely close to that range

and if it's cuz they needed to fill in space, y couldn't they have expanded the existing scale to 8K??

I know what they have. We have sequential transmissions. That's not an excuse. My point is that every car both manual and automatic should have an indicator of some type. You shouldn't have to look down or remember what gear the car is in.

While I must admit that in some RARE instances this may have been helpful, I would generally have to say NO to a gear indicator..

I guess it’s just one of those things they say about driving a stick shift where you feel more “AT ONE” with the car.
You must be more aware of what’s going on with the engine REV’s, your speed on the road and the road conditions.

You also have to be more disciplined as a driver.
Less talking on the phone, playing with the radio or eating a burger while driving.
ALL of these things must be done in moderation, if at all, when you have three pedals on the floor.

I would venture a guess that if you remove all of the “street racer” type of accidents, people who drive clutch are probably SAFER on the road and less likely to have an accident.

When you have AUTO, there’s a lot less to worry about behind the wheel and your mind tends to drift.
That’s probably why so many of you prefer them.
It gives more time to chat on the phone, play video games or watch DVD’s on the NAV.

How's that not an excuse? When they are going into a corner after a long straight, they need to know how many taps to make onto the shifter to downshift into 2nd or 1st. They aren't able to 'feel' their way into the 2nd gear position like a traditional manual. That said, I'd really like to know when these guys use the gear indicators at all, as most of them never take their eyes off the road, especially Gronholm.
