seatbelts

Finally got new seatbelt asemblies. Smooth as silk and retracts fully. No more flopping half outside the car. Also mentioned the tranny problem and was told Acura was looking onto it. Service Advisor was very helpful and courteous. Also got new wiper blades for second time due to streaking. Couldn't have treated any better. Loaner was a 2002 RSX which isn't bad but it's no CL.

hey louisn - Did you request your dealer to change the seatbelts or was there an initial problem with yours? Was there a SB# for it?

I had my seatbelt (drivers side) along with retractor replaced last fall. It worked well for two to three months then (after the belt lost it stiffness and was able to bend a little) it returned to the same old "hang" 80% of the time. I hope to get them to look at it again shortly. YMMV

I brought it up a right after I got the CL (Aug 2000) and they blew me off. Last month I brought it up again and they replaced them. The belts never really worked right and the new ones feel so much smoother and have more spring in the retractor. They have lifetime warrantees. No service bulletin that I'm aware of. I knew I was right when I sat in a 2003 and the seatblets retracted perfectly. Maybe an upgrade?? Tell them to compare the belts to a 2003 and they will see the differnce if the dealer gives you any flack.

I compared the crappy seatbelt retraction on my 01 CL to my friend's 02 TL, and the TL had MUCH nicer, smoother retraction. For one thing, it actually retracted the seatbelt all the way back in, instead of flopping it halfway out the door. Anyone knows if the TL and CL have the same seatbelt assemblies? One would assume they did...

When I had mine, the dealer replaced the buckles and inserts. Not sure about the retractors. I believe there is a TSB. I'll check my records.
