Seat Heaters Advantage 2001/2002
Seat Heaters Advantage 2001/2002
Weird Pennsylvania weather.
It was 70-degrees and summertime on Saturday, but Sunday evening we got two inches of wet snow and slush.
I woke up this morning to slush covered roads and 34 degree temps.
On the 20-minute ride in to work I fired up the drivers seat heater.
For those that arent aware, Acura did away with the High/Low switch for 2003 when they redesigned the center console in favor of a single ON/OFF switch for each front seat.
Normally I would start off in HIGH and then after a few minutes I would turn the switch to LOW and leave it set there for the duration of the trip.
Now there is only ONE setting so I turned it on.
It seems to start off in the HIGH setting and then cycle ON/OFF every few minutes.
Not a bad compromise I guess, but I still prefer the High/Low switch.
It seemed like the seat would get just a few degrees past the comfortable level and then shut OFF for a few minutes.
A short while later it gets real warm and then cycles OFF again.
The seat in my old car would hold a comfortable temperature in the LOW setting, but this one seems to continually cycle.
One downgrade that I guess I will have to live with or get used to.

Maybe this advantage can be neutralized if you can find a way to replace the seat heater control box and switchgear with that from an '02/'01. I wouldn't imagine it being very difficult (unless its part of an integrated body ECU) or very expensive, being Japanese cars.
(That's what I love about Japanese cars over its European counterparts. Even the premium marque parts are completely reasonable.
