seat is cracked!! what should I do.
so my drivers side seat has been crack since i bought the thing back almost 3 yrs ago. it's right by ur left leg under ur kneee on the front of the seat where there is that piece that clearly is not leather. it cracked badly and is spreading slowly but surely. I sewed it together twice and each time the threads pull out of the non leather crap so that's a no go.
my questions is has this happened to anyone?
how did u go about fixing it?
would u buy a new seat cover from the DLR and IF SO does it fit properly or is it never going to fit right?
i got some cash i'd like to get the new seat bottom since i can only patch up the seat the way it stand now and i don't like ghettoness in the interior especially

From experience a new cover WILL NOT match. It will be a grey color. It will wear over time & numerous leather treatments & match up eventually.

Most likely not. Youre seats have 11 years of use.

lol... the seats are so mint tho it's not even funny for the age of the car. they still look brand new.
I think i may have to just live with it i guess..
i'm gonna pull the cover off then glue on some sort of tuff fabric behind the cracked piece to keep everything in the right place then hand stitch the crack all together so the glued in piece in the back won't come loose and then i should not have to worry about this again.
i just wanna do this all in the same day.. that and the passenger seat warmer. which is why getting a new piece put in at a fabric shop or w/e is outta the question.
i never even see the crack but i know it's ever so slowly progressing and eventually it'll be unfixable with the method i intend to use.

if i buy the seat cover from the DLR it won't match?
I had my drivers lower replaced & it took a year for it to match decently enough to not notice.
If you ever replace your armrest, same goes for that.

THANK YOU for telling me bro that basically solidifies the fact i won't b purchasing a new cover then.
i just bought some black fishing line and am gonna stitch the living shit outta it today or tomorro. an then will tackle the seat warmer on the passenger side the day after.
i looked very closely at it just now and only some of the threads that i stitched pulled through which is why i got thread/fishing line so the threads wont deteriorate anymore. then if that doesn't work i'll have to remove it and get that piece replaced somewhere

I have always hated how I had to literally push that part of the seat down with my leg whenever I had to brake or use clutch. Mine is cracked also. Don't have that issue with bucket seat. I would just leave it as is.
I have also noticed when you replace vinyl pieces the color does not match factory either. It is more of a dull grey color.

well i'm sure somewhere i could find something close enough that it wouldn't bother me ...if it came to pulling off the seat cover that is. i'm gonna stitch it up so the crack doesnt keep moving and progressing. especially when it's cold. i'd rather see some black stitching than white line of fabric and a cracked mess.

well i just sewed er up and things are looking good. aside from the fact my toes and hands are practically numb. the color of the thread isn't tru black so i just need to run some marker over it and should look close enough to black.
no more white shit popping out. and that 50lb tess line aint falling apart anytime soon i would think
