If the scratch is larger than a rock chip and thru the base coat, your screwed. You have to repaint. It will look like shit if you try to touch it up, especially silver.

I had, what I thought was a scratch that went down all the way to the primer. I took it into the dealer and had them work on it. I didn't want to get it painted, as I'm always a little nervous painting only a portion of a car. The service manager said they could get 85% of it out.
I came back 2 hours later, and it was completely gone!
My point... Never write off trying a good detail shop before going to the last resort of painting the car. Touchup paint just scares me, expecially if it's up high; i.e. on the truck. I have a small rock chip real low on the door, that I used some paint on and you can't see it.
Try a good detail place. You may be surprised. Heck, you can at least take it there and see if they'd be able to get it out or what your options are.
BTW... How did you manage to get such a nasty scratch on your trunk?

Siver + Dealer Touch Up Paint + Langka = Mess.
I tried so many times but failed. I emailed Langka and asked. They told me stock touch up paint sucked. It turned out to be true. I tried aftermarket paint and it worked. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the same color. If any of you came across it, please let me know. Thanks a million.
PS: I got 2 deep scratches on the trunk lid as well :'(

GS27® SCRATCH REMOVER is a unique formulation that uses a specially selected paste, made from microscopic crystals designed to erase and polish surface scratches on any color and type of paint.

They hock it on TV and I've seen it at the local auto parts store...
IMHO, the whole "erases" scratches thing sounds fishy to me. Reminds me of those colored waxes they sold a couple of years ago.
