same thing happened to rondog on the highway, But he put the car in neutral. You should have put the car in neutral from the start.

Glad to hear you were not hurt.

I used to have problems with my AEM bypass valve breaking (replace it 3 times), but I never experienced the TB getting stuck (thank God). That is one of the reasons I switched to the CT Icebox.

WOW….What a story. I’m just reading this for the first time.
I used to be a Bypass Valve believer, but mine is sitting on the workbench in my garage now.

I can’t believe more people aren’t aware that you can just throw it in NEUTRAL if something like this happens.
Sure, the engine might go BOOM, but that’s a much better choice then using a TREE to stop.

Just get some 3" silicon tubing and some hose clamps. I've heard the bypass valve actually brings down horsepower ratings.

thats why i didnt buy that piece of crap, scary story, your crazy for thinking about using a tree, i guess that would of been better then someones rear bumper ( huge lawsuit).

Ive driven through about a ft of water by accident and didnt have any problems. Also doesnt water water actually have to go into the engine, not just wet the filter itself to hydrolock?

Well...i guess yuo can say that the incident last wednesday night was the last draw for me and my beloved CL-S.
I have just purchased a 2004 Nissan Murano SE AWD. Black/Black
everything but navigation ...and i couldnt be happier with this car...surprisingly good handling, really cool new CVT tranny, powerful car. Of course, this car is not going to beat any TLs or CLS's any time soon, but as for practicality, i couldnt ask for more.

Not to mention i buried 12months of payments on the CL lease and i am still comfortable with the payments.

i will be checking in frequently with this board, but want to thank everyone here who made life with the CLS more enjoyable.

thanks
Chris

I didn't get the by-pass because I didn't have the money for it at the time. Now I'm glad I didn't.

Good to see that you made it out OK without getting in an accident and/or getting hurt.

By the way, don't turn the car off while it's still rolling. It does bad things to the transmission (auto) unless you pop it in Neutral first, not to mention you will lose the brakes unless you have Hydro-boost brakes like some of the GM cars.

So you SOLD your car and are blaming Acura because an AFTERMARKET part failed.
WTF ???

Good luck with the new ride, but I don’t understand why this particular incident made you decide to sell all of a sudden
