S2k w/intake and pass. vs CLS 6spd
So...today I am with my lady and some tool in a Silver CLS decides to keep lurching at the light getting ready to make a left on to an onramp. He launches, slightly losing grip at the light. I decide to just take the turn normally and hit Vtec on the straight. He cannot seem to pull...yes...he is ahead of me...about the same distance he had after launching at the light. Hmmm....well...uphill...and me with another passenger...you got the win. You should def be proud
Notice my screen name...and when I became a member? Yeah...I used to own one...I know how quick they are....but trust me...I own the s2000 for a reason
Maybe next time...we will meet again...legally at the racetrack. I am getting to old to do something this dumb on the streets...and needless to say...my lady is in the car...and I will not endanger her in anyway.

Whoa... that was you! I had just put my stock header back on and had gone to the car-wash on Victory to get the car cleaned cuz I was meeting a buyer. I thought it was fun that you couldn't catch up to a 100% stock CL. Dunno.. maybe its the driver? I suppose the 3700lb curb-weght of the CL kinda sorta offsets your passenger... eh? You also forgot that you couldn't catch up even well into the 101 freeway.. when it is flat. I was pretty pleased with my stock car's performance. Notice I didn't go about posting it on this forum?
Luckily you never ran into me when I would have run circles around you in 6th gear. Trust me... you DON'T know how quick a CL can be!
Probably my first 'street encounter' in well over a year... and likely my last. I drop my car off on Saturday and then its bye-bye CL. While I don't condone street racing... accelerating on the on-ramp to the freeway is mild in my opinion.
First time I've been called a 'tool' BTW.
No wonder I don't post here anymore...

Did a lot of research as these cars can be a nuisance to maintain, but the www.e38.org and bimmerboards.com site are pretty cool actually. I have negotiated with the current owner to do 4 of 6 pre-emptive maintenance items I want to have done. The rest I can do myself.
After taking a horrendous loss on the CL over the 4 years of ownership, I am going for a used car.
I did think of the new TL Type-S... but no more FWD's for me!

allmotor. a 740?! you can easily get an M5 of the same year for just a bit more. you know that would be a better all-around car compared to the 740.

I thought about the M5 but I got a very good deal on the 740iL which has only 48K miles on it.
It's not completed yet... hopefully by this weekend. I still have the CL with me.

He doesn't need to know anything. I was just very amused that he would come on the board and essentially make excuses as to why his S2000 lost to a CL. If it were me, I would never have mentioned it... especially on the internet!?!
What do you gain by saying... "well, I lost... but you know... technically I can [should] beat you... cuz you know, I have an S2000 and trust me... I know what an S2000 can do... and I only lost cuz I had my lady in the car... and the guy in the CL was a tool and took off early... and at the track... legally... but then again... I don't really know who you are and hopefully you are on this board... and you know I've been on this board forever... you know... read my username.. you know..."
Well... his wish turned true! I haven't had this much fun in ages!

still. a 740il?! what's the reason for going with it? if you don't want a M5, a 540 will be just as fun to mod and still quite classy. i hang out on bimmerforums.com here and there. there aren't many Acura kills posted but when there are, they are unbelieveable and i can't contain myself. gl
