S2000's Being Discounted...

S2000's now being discounted down to about $31,000. What a switch. The past few years they went from over MSRP to selling for exactly MSRP. Now with the S2200 coming out in the fall of this year and not knowing whether it will be a Honda or Acura, the prices have started to fall. I think the MSRP was something like $34,000. Wow, this is interesting. With the threat of being discontinued and a lousey market you can now buy the S2000 at a good discount and the Ford Thunderbird at dealer invoice. What next?

I was HIGHLY considering getting an S2000 just a couple weeks back. I ultimately decided against it. It's too small, and the fact that I have a 95lb doberman pinscher also had a role to play in it.

Awesome car though.

The dealerships wouldn't stop goofing around on the price. The lowest I could find a 2003 was for,

$32, 4-- out the door, taxes, tag, etc included.

WAY too high.

Yeah, the S is cool, but not practical enough for me. The one I was considering buying was still on the lot this past weekend. RED.... Damn, it looked sooooooooo hot!

My neighbor just bought a new 03 for $30,000.00 out the door. They both sold at a snap ! I drove it and to tell you the truth, you can have it. Too cramped, too rough riding, too noisey and not enough low end guts ! If it had a six cyliner, maybe......Honda and Acura have been fighting for this car long before it hit the dealerships ! This is OLD news !

I could trade in my 2003 CL-S and pick it up for $10,000. out the door. Maybe even $9,500.

When I bought my CL-S in April, I noticed that the dealer had at least three used S2Ks on the lot. The salesperson said that they were traded in on some Acura or another because the owner got tired of driving them full time in DC traffic. They'd be a great weekend car, though; if I had the cash, and the room to park it, I'd snap up a used one.

How about if you lived in Florida?

Actually, I researched this S2000 subject to death (for the past year). I got a decent deal from Braman Honda, so I'll decide today on whether I make the switch. If I do, it will be the white with tan interior which is a one year only color for the S2000. I may be trading my CL-S, but I still have a TL-S! Stay tuned to this station. I let you know this afternoon.

Pappy, I might be flying into Miami to help my parents buy a used car. Any good deals at Braman right now on cars in the $9-13k price range?

There is not even room for a grocery bag in the "trunk". Makes me wonder what geniuses are making these decisions. If they made a hatchback version (like the 350Z). With a bit of trunk room, a whole new segment of the buying public would now consider a purchase.
I would also think, its wise to wait for the 2.2 liter version. A bit more torque would make the car a bit more fun when just driving around town.
I have driven one, a very fun car, if you can afford to buy a car just for entertainment with no practical utility,.

ATL, there are good deals all over because of the slow economy. You just have to haggle tough...for the car and the finance rate. Good luck!
