I ran an auto vette at the track and he was only pulling 14.2x . Everyone was at least .5+ off that day due to some crappy weather.

nice kill.

only time tires would come into play from a 50 roll is when your puttin down 500+ft pounds and an equal amount if not more hp to the rear wheels, a fwd like all motors putting down 420 would most likey not get traction @50 in 2nd gear but prolly from a 3rd gear roll

If you can pull 108mph consistently, a stock C5 auto will not be a problem, from a roll or from a stop. Sure its going to out-launch you, but once you get rolling you should pull on one slowly. If its modded then throw that out the window.

I like C5's, almost as much of a performance bargain as the 03/04 Cobra's.

I do believe this story 110%, there is nothing that would give me the sense of BS, especially considering what kind of HP mrsteve is putting out, and it was against an auto C5 from 50. All that being said, I have met jimcol711 and he really is a good guy, and knows his stuff, I can only assume, he didn't realize the kind of power you were getting out you car IMO

Good going Steve. I bet the guy in the C5 wasn't expecting that. You're definitely getting your moneys worth out of the SC

Steve, do you have a 6spd?

Either way, this sounds very accurate...I know the CLS can pull pretty strong til 4th gear hits, if its auto.

Got any pics of your car Steve?

No i've got the automatic. 4th still pulls decent, not like 2nd or 3rd. But it isn't horrible. It's fine for passing on the highway.

good run. Although from experience i know that if you are at 50 mph with an auto LS1, it will downshift to second and not first which will bog the shit outta it. If he would caught first or high second, it mighta been different, but. A kill is a kill i say and good for you for kicking ass in the CL.

ah . . . my experiences with Vetts is that a 50MPH punch in not their strong point. I've had a few occasions to do 50MPH punches and made a tight race out of it to about 80-90 before I get walked on.

Shoot Mantis can tell you that from a run we had before I had any mods. The Vett was doing all it could to loose us.

Nothing to do with it in this case. Neither car is putting down that kind of power to make a difference from a 50 punch.

Also, to those that a pointing to the torque of the Vett and having power at 50MPH. It's more than just those factors. Where is the Vett based on gearing? Depending on which gears he has he could be in the lowend of his powerband and if you are on the upper end then you will pull regardless of how much better he's gross torque numbers are.

As I said before . . thought you would give em a run and now you've proved it.

Thanks Ruf.

I'm no match for the C6 I saw at the track yesterday.

Brand new, 86 miles on the odometer. Automatic, ran 12.60 @ 111 MPH

My car made 295 whp on the dyno in 70 degree temps.

It was 50 degrees temps (like yesterday) I ran a 13.44 @ 108 at the track. A manual shifted C5 will run 13.1 @ 105-107 MPH. His auto probably would be in the 104-106 range. A C5 makes 350 crank horsepower... I make 400 crank horsepower at the 70 degrees I dyno'd in. Being that the run was from 50-105 I was in VTEC the entire run. I never said I beat the guy. I got the jump on him by 1/2 length (my door at his front bumper) and it stayed that way until I shut it down.

Also tires and RWD have nothing to do with racing from a roll you dolt.

Umm... Bump that to 110 for the manual. (with 3.42's)

Also someone said the manual isnt that much faster than an auto from a roll. I put about 4+ lengths on my neighbors auto with intake and I'm a stock 6 spd. 3.42 geared c5. (Routinely)

With your trap and your dyno you definitely have the roll capability to hang with an auto 2.73 geared Vette. Nice run.

12.6@111 is the fastest ET yet online. Most are 12.8-13.0@111-113

actually tires might matter... depending on how much power you're making. =) I was in a twin screw (whipple) '04 cobra, and had mad trouble grabbing traction at 100mph. From a third gear punch, it would step out and spin... and that was on BFG DR.

But it wasn't a twin screw whipple '04 Cobra.

Different S/C than the stock Cobra has. Easily can bump HP to over 500 at the wheels.
