S-03s !

Finally Ordered me a Set !

235/45-17 From Tirerack.

I have 30,500 on the OEMs they are doing fine, but I'm looking
forward to the Change. Also Changing Rims. Still 17x7.

Wondering whether I should keep the OEMs or try to get a few bucks out of them on EBAY ???

The originals weren't any good after 10,000 miles IMO. Became very hard and unforgiving and they never were very grippy. I can't imagine anyone buying them with 30,000 miles.

You Might Be Right, but there's a Pair on Sell Right now on Ebay.
He has only 2 ( 11/32 Tread ) has had 9 bids, and they are up to 86 Bucks.

Might have to "test the waters" !

I'd keep the stock wheels for when you sell the car....it makes it seem "less messed with"!

Probably not a Bad Idea

Got to feeling "iffy" about the 235 vs 225.

Called em back up, told them to ship me the 225/45-17 instead.

I know I know, I've heard it before. I just feel better about the "tightness"

No problems here with my 235/45 17 with my SO-3. Knock on wood.

You could have kept the 235's. I had the 235 SO3's and they fit perfect. One thing about those tires is to make sure you rotate them every 3,500 miles. I let them go for about 8,000 miles without a rotation, and the fronts were worn past the wear indicators. The backs still had a few thousand left. And this was only after a total of about 16,000 miles on them. It really pissed me off that I paid $800 to see them wear out in about 7 months.

here is one good question for all type s owners:
i have done plenty of research and i am getting the michelin pilot sport 225/45/17
now i have a friend who is able to peel a good 5 seconds before getting traction, and he has the pilot sports with half tread life. i was wondering if there are any tires that can nearly stop a squealing from standstill. i am sick of spinning the tires when i floor it, and i know the pilot sports wont stop that completly.
any experience inputs?

Haha, naw actually I put on 60 miles a day going to work plus whatever driving during the weekend. Up here at my elevation of 5500 feet, I have quite a bit less power than sea level and I was never able to spin them. Actually I never spun them until they were bald because it was easy and was never able to do it before. But, I do like to take corners fast

i'm running re730's rev.2(quieter than rev.1), and they are amazing... i dont squeal.. in fact i cant.. i've tried to peel out a few times, and couldnt.. only on wet pavement.. they also have a much longer life than s-03's, being ultra high perf vs. max perf, and believe it or not, they are actually OK in the snow, i've driven through two NYC winters in them... we dont get snow that much, but i've driven through a few storms.

So what tires do you guys recommend for standard, everyday driving? I'm not looking for anything special.. A replacement for my current tires (stock) would be just fine.

Get the same ones? Anything better for a marginal price?

Stay clear of the OEM tires. Have you priced them lately ??????? You be floored just how pricey they are and they are a joke ! I can only speak for summer tires, since I live in Calilfornia and don't need "all season" tires......S03's are GREAT if appropriate for your use !

Soopa's not allowing attached pics.

Also, I meant post a pic of the wheels, not the tires.

If I had my Choice it would Be SSR Decolte, Axis Hagen, OZ Velz but Opportunity & $$ narrowed my choices. It will be NICE to have a Change.

make darn sure you rotate these puppies every 3000 miles unless you have lots of CASH TO BURN. I have them and I LOVE the looks, feel and handling !
Enjoy !

get what you can by putting them on ebay.....

Heck, the tire shops will just sell them to used tire shops.

Guys Already buying them, I hijacked an Ebay User Looking at same wheel Size, found a couple that had been bidding on our Same Tire. He's going to take them off my Hand for 100 Bucks + Shipping.

I actually find it hard to believe you can't break the tires loose. Maybe you should get your car checked. I can spin my S03's every time from a stop. In fact, I still have a hard time controlling how hard I push the gas during a race. I usually give up a car length due to wheel spin.

thank you seattlecls!!! i actually have the pilot sports on right now, they are amazing, braking is improved drastically, and handling is bettter too, though i dont push it like i used too. so basically we can't stop wheel spin. seattle is right, if you cant spin your wheels, something is wrong. with the stock michelins, i could take a good coffee break before the tires would catch on, it was a total joke.
seattlecls, are you just punching it out of the whole?
one last thing, has anyone tried a brake torque launch, i wonder how long you will sit with that launch!!!

I think I get a little excited when I see someone wanting to race. My adrenaline goes up and my foot goes down...a little too hard usually. I'm getting better though. I think a little spin is good to get those revs up into the >4k's. Torque breaking is just a waste of good tires.

4k rpm??? that is a bit too much, i would get till about 2500 or 3000 at most. that is good enough, any more than that, you are just wasting time.
also, for those who wondered one of the reasons why you can get a higher mph but slower 1/4 mile time, it is because of a "too much wheel spin launch"
