Running light removal on 2001 CLs???

I fear I'm starting to get a new addiction with this forum (home theater being the last *problem*), but here's another question...

I recently had a running light burn out, and thought to myself, "Hmmm, the 2003's don't even have them, and I never really liked them to begin with..." So, I was kinda hoping to yank 'em out. Anyone done this? Are there parts available to replace the light fixtures with a black plastic insert, etc.?

Mine are unhooked. Just take the bulbs out.

They serve no purpose, and the damn things keep burning out anyways cuz of those goddamn cracked light covers.

done deal!

I was at the Acura dealer today, and am having the black plastic pieces shipped to me UPS in a few days. I'll have those ugly fog lights out, 2003-style, in no time! They're $18 / side, fyi.

I checked my dealer for the 03 inserts a while back but 18/each is just crazy.

SilverKnight,

I'm with you that the price for black plastic triangles is a *tad* steep , but based on the cost of the upgrades some guys here are dropping for other relatively insignificant upgrades, this cosmetic change couldn't be any smaller.

Given I was gonna have to buy new replacement bulbs anyway, and hated the non-sporty look of those big non-matching lights in the grill, it was really a no-brainer for me.

On the other hand, I can't believe the $$$ people are dropping to replace the taillights, so I guess it's up to the individual.

Just a thought,
Dan

Remove the damned housings and put painted black mesh there, more air to the CAI and cheaper. I did that a long time ago, before the 03 even came out.

I dunno, I like the look of the roadlamp housings so if one of my Polarg M6s burns out I will just take out the bulbs. The road lamp housings look good though.

what?

SilverKnight,

I'm not sure how one might go about improvising "painted black mesh" into the front of my car where the light housing is sitting...
Should I use LiquidNails? Where is this attractive mesh I wanna permanently afix to my car that won't look like shit? I don't know what you make an hour, but if it takes more than an hour to create it, you got ripped off.

Don't slam me for dropping $36 to improve (IMO) my front end. I still think it's a no-brainer.
