Rpm Loss
Rpm Loss
I am having problems with my car every now and than as I am driving about 40 or for the first time of the day mainly mornings as I approach 40 mph my rpm's will drop for about a brief second than go back to normal as it will do this the car will actually jerk real quick sometimes really noticable and sometimes I will barely feel it and sometimes it won't due it at all but the days it does this it will only do it once and that's it? I took it up to a dealer a couple of times but they did not have clue what would cause this??? They said they checked out the tranny and test drove it and checked for code but found nothing? I have a 2003 CLS.. Also I will notice when driving on highway about a steady 60 my RPm's will flucuate 200 to 400 rpms' for about a minute than it will stop and go back to normal?? Has anyone else had these problems??
3800 rpm is the IMRC change over point perhaps a small change in air fuel ratios cause a pull in timing or just a hesitation...ofcourse this may not be it at all ...but if you search dyno's on every one you will see a 10 hp drop in power at the 3800 change over and again at vtec at 4800 BTW this only applies to the type S model and even at that is speculation
Not sure what the deal is? It comes and goes & sometimes not at all and of cource when I took it up to the dealer it did not do it for them.. Funny thing it only happens first thing in the mornings on the drive to work coming home everything is fine? They have changed my ignition switch to see if may be that's what is about to go out but that did not work, It's real odd! It has to be something electrical or something? I joined this club today to see if anyone has had this same symtom happen to them hoping I can pinpoint the problem..
I've been having the same issue...it seems like the engine doesn't know which gear it wants to be in at around 40mph...i've noticed that it happens more often when i'm very lightly pressing the accelorator, below 2000rpms.

that's exactly when mine does that too when lightly on the gas and approaching 40 and right about 2000 rpm's, So I take it this is normal ??? Since there a quite a few people with the same problem I didn't notice it doing this when I first got the car so I don't think this is normal? If that was the case it would always do it but mine only does it first drive of the day?
