Rough 5-4 downshift with light throttle

Is my tranny performing normally? This doesn't always happen, but it did last night. I was on the freeway and traffic was such that I coasted down to about 50mph in 5th gear. I downshifted from 5-4 (sportshift) while giving it either no gas or very little since I didn't need to accelerate at that point. When it downshifted, it felt "loose". I don't know how else to decribe it, but it was rough and just didn't feel right. Am I paranoid from reading all of these transmission stories? Does anyone else get this? I have 27000 miles and had the fluid drained and refilled (but not flushed( at 15k.

I see that you are going to be sticking like glue to any tales of misery (or possible woe) that come along. The word "stuck" comes to mind...

It's his way of reaffirming that he made the right choice in ditchng his CL.

Exactly, fourth gear is of no use either, for acceleration at least, just fuel economy.

Can't say as I've experienced that, but unless it occurs frequently, I wouldn't really worry about it. At 26,000 miles my tranny has only had one oddity: After several hours of high speed driving in the mountains at 105+ degrees it shifted funny once. I guess I can allow that!

If his car was anything like mine, he did. I can't believe I actually passed on the S4 because I was worried about it breaking down more than the CL.
