rotors warped again
I replaced the stock front rotors on my 2001 CL-S after they warped twice. I installed EBC rotors and green stuff pads. These EBC rotors have warped twice. Can anyone explain what's going on? I am NOT an agressive driver!

damn dude, I had mine replaced twice already and cut once, I just learn to live with it. But I would guess that the green pads are not made for those rotors, you should contact whoever you bought the pads and rotors from and inquire about a warranty. I would suggest buying the rotors and pads from the same company kinda like shocks and springs, just so they can guarentee that they don't mess eachother up, good luck.

Green stuff pads are known to cause a high amount of heat. I had them on my VW, warped the rotors in less than 1K. Replaced them with Mintex... 30K later, still going strong.

Huh? EBC makes Green Stuff.
ginzy, Did you break them in first?

When you break in the rotors and pads you need to do a couple things:
1. Tighten lugs in a star pattern.
2. Tighten lugs to factory specs, which according to Mac Tools Wheel Torque Chart is 80 ft./lbs. The best way to do this is with a torque stick.
3. Upon installation test drive the car. Speed up to 40mph and then slowly apply pressure to the brake until you come to about 5mph. DO NOT COME TO A COMPLETE STOP IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. Do this 6-8 times.
4. Do not do any heavy/highway braking for 200-500 miles. This will also cause the rotors to warp.

I'm going with the Rotora rotors and stock OEM pads. I haven't heard anyone say that this has been a problem for them although I am not getting anything more in braking performance. I just want to have some rotors that last 50K without warping.
They should arrive today or tomorrow and then I'll try to get the mounted next week.
