Rotors

I am the somewhat new owner of an 03 cl 6 speed with 50k miles. When I purchased the car it came with warped rotors. I had the rotors machined/turned and put new pads on. Things were fine after that but within about 3000 miles I've started feeling a shimmy/shake again in the steering wheel when braking. I've read on here about the rotors being one of the weak points on these cars, but should they be warped again so soon? Any other causes anyone can think of other than the rotors being bad? Something in the calipers causing this again so soon? I'm thinking of just getting them turned again and then seeing what happens. If it happens again I'm considering getting new rotors (slotted and possibly drilled) and seeing where that takes me? Sound reasonable? Thanks.

You'll more than likely have to purchase new rotors anyway. If they've been turned once already, that's about all you'll be able to get out of them. Take it to the shop and have them check to see if the rotor thickness is enough to have them turned again. I'd start looking for some quality rotors like Rotora or Racing Brake.

When you turn the rotors you take some material off, and then there is even less material there to deal with the heat. The rotors are already prone to warpage and now with less material, the general eventuality is another warped rotor.

I just got the Rotora slotted rotors and H2 pads from Excelerate. They were less expensive than OEM and I feel they are much stronger.

If the rotors have been turned already, thats probably why they warped so quickly, not enough material to deal with the heat.

Yes you should look int some good alternative rotors: Brembo or ROTORA blanks for OE replacements or ROTORA slotted for performance OE replacements.
