Rotora will be offering a REAR BBK

I e-mailed rotora asking them what color they used on their calipers so I can match the front BBK I purchased. They responded with the following e-mail.

I don't know, $2k for 4 piston rear brakes... I think the 2 pistons will be a hit.

they seem a little pricey to me...not sure i would really worry that much about my rears matching my front to spend $1500-2000 on them. I think I'll be sticking w/ the rotora slotted for the rear

i have rotora slotted in the rear, my caliper froze and dug into my rotor, now i need to replace rotor and pads, the caliper is junk, not the first time doing this. worth it to me not only for matching but functionality and reliability. plus better braking the rear should relieve some strain on the fronts, no?

This has been in the works for a LONG time. Looks like they finally finished them.

The 2 piston idea is cool, 4 pistons would be rediculous but provide nothing over the 2 piston version in terms of performance.

Nice setup but expensive.... The rears do not provide a gross amount of stopping power anyway. This is more of a aesthetic or track setup. The front BBK provides enough stopping power by itself.

No, if you do not have a BBK in front it will drastically throw off your braking bias. You need stopping power up front. Rear brakes only provide enough power to prevent the wheels from locking up. Remember, tires stop cars, not brakes.

Edit: I read you DO have a BBK... but I will let my post stand to inform others...

i agree with the braking bias part, also i just spent 1200+ on the fronts why in the hell would the rears cost more? id almost rather just buy new rear rotors and good pads/braided lines. although i wouldnt mind buying the 2 piston calipers if they were say 3-400 less than they are quoted here.

Was harder to design due to it has to work with the parking brake.

Was what I heard.

I'm guessing the actual kits won't include floating hat rotors - probably single piece. They look very nice but I doubt I'll jump at this one.

Those look great. But I agree that they may be a bit unnecessary.

Nice setup. Way too much $$. I think the CLS stops just fine for everyday driving with a good rotor/pad setup.

ROTORA has 3 different front rotor kits:

- A 4-Piston BBK w/ 1 Piece 13" Rotor which has a list of $1495
- A 4-Piston BBK w/ 2 Piece 13" Rotor which has a list of $1995
- A 4-Piston BBK w/ 2 Piece 14" Rotor which has a list of $2295

Now if you take this into account and you look at the rear BBK options ...

- A 2-Piston BBK w/ 2 Piece 13" Rotor which has a list of $1695
- A 4-Piston BBK w/ 2 Piece 13" Rotor which has a list of $1995

then you can see that the 2 piece rotor is driving up the cost. The reason for the 2-piece in the rear is to maintain use of the parking brake. So therefore the front BBK does cost more when it utilizes the same 2-piece rotor as the rear.

Of course list price isn't where they sell at b/c I can get those prices much lower.
