rotora rotors and Axxis pads installed

Just finished installing them. took me about 2 days to do all of them. everything seems to be working well but I hade to bleed the lines a little. There is just one thing i am worried about and maybe you guys can help me. When breaking I smell a somethin strange. It smells like burning wood or something. when I parked the car I noticed that it was coming from the brakes and that It was the brake fluid that was smelling. Is this normal? If not what d oI have to do? Add more fluid because I bled them? Anyone just let me know soon because I have to go to pepboys soon. if ill need brake fluid then ill get it whem im there.

Thanks guys

check to make sure you aren't leaking fluid. but burning wood smell sounds like it'd be from the pads. did you use brake cleaner on the rotors before you installed them? they usually have a light coating of oil on them..

its not really oil, its sealant.

Your supposed to wash rotors with dish washing fluid before you install them. But i've never heard of them making a burning smell.

don't make too many rough stops, you've got to bed the rotors and the pads in.

You won't warp the rotors, thats nearly impossible. you will put cracks in them though.

bed them in correctly.

What do you mean bed the, in.
do you mean break them in?? if so how do i properly break them in? Do i have to take everything off again and take this sealer off?

Thanks for the tip. I thought it was just cutting oil.. Either way would prob work okay; either washing or brake cleaner.

You need to seat the pads to the rotors.. so take it easy for first 100 or so miles.

proper bedding of the new pads are supposed to make that smell. A number of hits from 60-40 and back, followed by a number of hits from 60-10 and back ... there's more than a few posts concerning this but the smell you've noticed is normal during the bedding procedure.

Yeah normal. Every set of new brakes I have installed in any car gives off a little smell the first 50 or so miles.

Have you noticed an increase in brake dust? My rear Axxis pads along with the ones in the front BBK kit are driving me nuts.
