Well, to clarify:

His CL-S is almost out of the shop.

I, being his roomate, have purchased the STi.

Weirdest thing...I wasn't supposed to get it until Sept/Oct but the person in line ahead of me copped out and I got the call this morning. ^_^

I will have pictures veddy veddy soon.

I had nothing arranged...

But for my STi...I made arrangements.

Now, I just gotta take care of that bad check I wrote before they cash it. Hohohoho.

Man, that's so sweet. I already had 4 people ask me about it when I was driving around, including one guy who was so intent on the car that he forgot to go when the light turned green. :^)

Mine was $38k total (including tax, title, the extras I wanted, etc). I did add on a few silly things and a few things I felt were neccesary...you could pull one off the lot for $33-34k if you don't get anything added on. The sticker price is like $31 or so + $2.5k for tax/title.

Sticker will be taken care of in the morning. I left at 1:30 pm to start working on the car and didn't get back until around 9:30 pm. I haven't had time to really do anything with it yet. ^_^

I really like it, but still don't understand all the pink badging all over the car. You even have to be reminded by one stamped right in front of your face on the steering wheel. Why pink? They trying to market to girls? Anyone else share this opinion or is it just me. carpet looks a little funky too, but otherwise great car.

There is a history behind it, somebody posted up the story about it. BTW, nice car. I'd take all the STI body add on's off and make it look like a WRX.

Yeah, my friend with the EVO cant wait to get his wing off. He says he gets the evil look from cops all time, just driving at the speed limit and minding his biz.

Do you have the stereo system installed? or are you going for the aftermarket one?

The dealer actually recommended against getting a factory system (not that I was planning to). Tunes are good and I'll probably work something out eventually, but since this came up on such short notice it's not like I have any extra cash this month to do more than pay my bills.

Or maybe I'll just leave it stock and revel in the pure rally inspired goodness. ^_^

Before I say anymore, I am not dicounting the purchase. Way to go, that is awsome. But being the cheap ass that I am....

I don't know man. Can you honestly say there is that much cost in building that car? The Dodge Neon SRT-4 is very comprable, and costs ~$20K:

Neon SRT-4
Curb Weight : 2970 lbs
Top speed : 153 mph
0-60 mph : 5.6 sec.
0-¼ mile : 14.2 sec @ 102.0 mph
60-0 braking distance : 120 ft

WRX STi
3,263lbs
top speed 145
0-60 4.6
1/4 mile 13.2@103mph
braking 70-0 166ft

The WRX STi beats it by a full second, and that is fast, but 10-15k more for one sec? I guess I am just cheap

i'd get the STi over the neon cause its AWD and it has rally based technology that actually goes to work. the neon just has a fast engine. plus when have u heard about a neon that doesnt have any problems after a few months

And the EVO is very comparable, too, for about the same price as the STi. Just go with what you like.

The SRT-4, however, is 215hp FWD while the EVO and STi are both AWD. Is it worth the $10k difference (My STi was $31000 sticker)? It's up to you, really. The SRT-4 _is_ a very fast car, especially for that price range but I imagine most people buying EVOs and STIs are doing so because of the car's background, not neccesarily just the raw performance numbers (after all, EVO came out better in most side by side comparisons but I've been waiting for the STi. Unless they came out and said that the wheels shot off the car when it hit 100 or something weird like that, I wasn't about to change my mind).

At any rate, a 1 second faster quarter mile is a pretty significant difference.

----
Edit in response to the below post:
It does kind of depend on how you define 'comparable'. For me, there is no comparison between EVO/STI and SRT...But those cars aren't in everyone's budget and the SRT offers better performance than many cars in that price range and can be a good alternative if you don't mind losing the AWD. A more fair comparison would be the SRT-4 against the original WRX (215hp vs. 227)

1 second is a big difference not to mention that the STi and Evo outhandle the srt-4. The neon is not comparable. Its a good cheap fast car but not in the same league as an Evo or STi. I didn't see the SRT-4 compared to the likes of a vette, viper or ferrari.

Is the car available without the spoiler? I think it would look good without one.

No you have to get the whaletail spoiler, i like it, but its too much of a cop magnet.

If you have the cash money and are even interested I would swap out for a stock WRX spoiler and remove all the STI badging on the outside. Have a bit of a sleeper car with everyone thinking its just a normal WRX, would also probably keep it low key from prying eyes of car theives.

Just an idea.
