Unhappy Rock vs. Glass

Now I am not a car expert but I would consider myself a car lover. I love to talk about cars and gain knowledge about them. I love to drive them drive, and I love to modify my car, not to show off but more as a personal hobby and extention of me.

But it always seems like when you show you care about a car or anything nice some jack@ss gets jealous and has no respect. I was finally starting to feel really good about my car and the modifications I had.

So I was out in Baldwin, LI visiting my girlfriend this weekend. I had run some errands Saturday morning and parked my car right across the street from her house. I was in the back of her house watching TV and doing some work when I realized I needed something from the car. I walked outside and openned the driver side door and see all these little glass pieces. I look across and the passenger side window is smashed. I walk across to the other side and there is a huge rock laying right next to the car. Apparently my gf's neighbor thought it would be handy to decorate their damn lawn with several nice size movable window crushing rocks for some loser's disposal. I realize my iPod is missing (luckily that was all the low life stole)!

However the mental midget who broke into my car couldn't put the huge rock through my window because of the tint and the wonderful rock fell after cracking the glass damaging the door as well, so now not only do I have to not only replace the window but there's body damage.

The kicker is that my gf's brother was home and in the front of the house. He heard my car alarm going off continously for several minutes and the numb nut didnt even think to peer out the window.

I know that it could have been worse and that that worse things have happened to other members in terms of robberies and accidents but it still sucks.

The car is at a friend's shop right now. Looks like a new window, new window housing (the chrome part on the top of the door was bent so the window cant roll up all the way) and body work. I didnt have my digital camera so I couldnt take pics but I had a disposible camera in my car. I will get those pics developed and post them. Just wondering how much this will all cost.

I only have liability on my car because the car has 152,000 miles, full coverage is basically twice what I am paying now and there's a $500 deductible anyway for any accident.

Oh well, everything will work out. Just figured you guys (and gals) could understand the feelings I have right now.

Hey man, sorry to hear that. If it makes you feel any better someone backed into my front end yesterday at the Arizona Cardinals game. I was standing there throwing the football with my buddy and as soon as I saw his face and he said dude your car I knew someone had hit it. The fucked up part is there were about fifty open spaces to park and this reject decided to back into the space directly in front of me with a Mits Montero. The hitch took a nice chunk out of my bumper. Un-freegen-believable. I feel for ya man.

Update

Thanks for the messages I really appreciate it.

I just spoke with the body shop guy and apparently the mentally challenged low life who broke into my car tried to wedge the window open fron the top and bent the top frame of the door. As well, there would need to be body work where the rock hit the door. So it was recommended I just get a new door that comes with the glass and all the pieces and having that painted then trying to replace the pieces of the door that might not get back to 100%.

For a used door to be painted and installed it will be around $1000. I can't believe all this for a 3 yr old iPod!

I had some friggen moron brake the window in my Integra before...
Same thing! The moron broke the window and only took the radar detector (didn't even take the adapter for the car) while I still had over $2000 in audio shit in the hatch. I even had the faceplate sitting in the door pocket and like 80 cd's sitting on my back seat in a cd holder...
The glass place couldn't figure out how to adjust the glass in the door, so it never worked that great afterwards. Turned out the brilliant genius lived upstairs from me (this was the first night I lived in this apartment), but when I found out who it was, his step father already sent him back to Brazil for stealing shit...
Some low lifes just suck in life...

I think the "little" problems are the worst kind...it would almost be less annoying if every unpleasant thing that happended to your car was some big involved, drunk driver, wrong side of the road, blind old lady who shouldn't drive kind of accident. The littler ones just nag at you when you try to go the sleep.
