Road track?
Road track?
Anybody taken their CL,CL-S to a road course? I have an oppertunity to go down to Little Talladega for their track day on the 25th of this month. By then I should have my CT sways on, Coils corner balanced, under drive pully installed, and SSR's on. Do you think it will still handle pretty well down there?
Good to know. Appearently there are a couple of track days in the very near future, I can't wait to get into this stuff. My father and I are both really excited about me going out and racing on these tracks. We just hope I don't destroy the car doing it. lol

After one day at the autocross, my brakes were cooked. Those aren't really high speeds either, but it does involve using the brakes a lot.
Never done a road course (hopefully I'll be able to get to Lime Rock or Summit Point this summer
) but I have autocrossed the car. The car handled fairly well considering I'm only on Comptech springs and stock shocks. The car does understeer a bit, but its to be expected. The main thing to watch out for is the brakes. They will get quite hot, so just watch out for fade.
And if your still on stocks, just give yourself extra time to stop. This car doesn't like to stop.
Gingerman Road Course for me. Took it 100% stock, and yeah the brakes suck, as do the tires. However, if your steering and braking inputs are smooth the car does pretty well. Once it leans it actually stiffens up, and with my 6 speed the LSD REALLY helped with midcorner power application. I had no inside tire spin.
Here's some carnage pics:
This was last spring, and I'm still on the same pads/rotors up front. I actually de-warped the fronts because I got them so hot they were red & smoking. The rear were down to the metal and grinding like crazy.
Pretty sure I boiled the fluid too, but otherwise the car performed perfect.

Yeah well I dont drive easy, especially on tires that I want to replace anyways.
I *MIGHT* one day go back with the springs/shocks installed, and a set of road racing tires on either my light 17's or 16'' steelies.

One word of advice regarding AFTER your track day. If you're going in stock your brakes are gonna be hosed, you'll probably boil the brake fluid creating bubbles in your brake lines which will make your brakes real squishy (if you have stock brake lines instead of aluminum). So when you leave the track be real careful hitting your first stop light since you'll need to press on the brakes harder and the car will take longer to stop! I almost hit the car in front of me after leaving the track my first time.
I had a buddy bleed my brake lines and they were fine after that aside from some slight warping which I got resurfaced later. Btw I raced in my RSX not a CL but it all still applies.

that is some serious carnage there. it may be fun and all, but i bet it costs a good chunk of change.
