Rim/Tire experts needed.....

Ok, here is the deal.....I want some summer/weekend PHAT Rims/Tires......so what do you guys recommend, that requires NO alignment etc....I want to be able to jack up my car, trade off tires for the weekend, then back to stock for the week. I would prefer some package deal from Tirerack.com. Please let me know.....I don't care about the weight of them, they are for looks, not racing. Money IS NO issue !
Thanks,

I want tires and rim, but NOT for 8,000.00 dollars for fun weekend driving....come on, who out there can assist me. What tire size can I get away with, without re-designing the car ! Can I go with 18" without VSA not working etc.....what are my limits ?

Excuuuuuse me. You hadn't mentioned anything about "re-designing" or "VSA" incompatabilities. Just moeny is NO problem". Btw, why would the stability assist stop working with 18's?

Changing the wheel/tire will NOT change your alignment at all as they have nothing to do with your suspension.

Easy guys ! I am not a mechanic ! I've read other post, where there were mentions of VSA issues with larger tires/rims, that is why I am asking you guys for "gentle" assistance !

Sorry Fab... Didn't mean to be harsh.

I think if you keep the same tire diameter, you'll have no problem with the VSA, ABS etc.
You'll want to consider lower your car. Low profile tires don't go too well with wheel well gaps.

Why not try Tim's site.

http://www.autocarparts.com/Wheels/W...or_AcuraTL.htm

The wheels for the TL will also fit the CL. Happy hunting.

So with any rims you can change yourself? Meaning if i jack up the car myself i can change the wheels without the tire place to do it?

AcurA Crazy,

Sure! As long as you already have your tires/rims balanced and fitted, you can put it on yourself. Just make sure you torqued the lug nuts to the correct tightness.

try http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
to get tire size info. Don't forget that the offset of the wheel (the CL-S is +55) has to be taken into considerations..

My tires are 9" in the back and 8" in the front My abs works fine. tried it in the snow. and the VSA works fine as well. and they are kinda flashy. the one thing is that you will have to do is change your springs if you go with 18's the gap between your tire and the wheel well will look hideous.

What is an offset? Our wheels are +55? What does that mean? Most of the wheels on the TL page have offsets of 48 & 50, so will that fit? Can our car takes smaller offsets without a problem then or larger offsets. The set of rims i'm looking at has 18x8 with a 42 offset. Will these measurements fit the CL-S or will it not and why if not?

Kwick-CL-Ver-S,

Goto www.tirerack.com for a better explanation of offset.

Goto www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html and try on some tire width with their respective offset.
