Results from Englishtown tonight

well tonight was the first time i've ever dragged my baby...i had 3 runs, and i won all of them (thank u, thank u)

1st run was against an early 90's Mustang with some mods
2nd run was against a blue riced out civic that actually had that funky looking front end kit available for the CL-S with that HUGE scoop below the bumper
3rd run was against Mike (Mercury here on ACL.com)

since i don't have a digicam (that will change after X-Mas), ill write out the time slips for y'all...the temp was about 50 degrees, give or take a couple...spare tire, jack, and other items ALL stayed in the car.

1st run against the Mustang (7:46)

1000- 13.805 / 12.708
1/4- 16.433 / 15.135
MPH- 85.37 / 92.87

3rd run against Mike (Mercury) (9:46)

MPH- 92.33 / 92.59

all in all, an excellent evening...can't wait til March when the track re-opens!!

Soopa, i know i told u i'm trying to break the 6 second barrier with only an intake...if u take out the spare, jack, and about 30 more pounds in the cabin, what r the chances??

yeah the lights were all fudged up tonight...they didn't do the usual get ready then flash the big yellow lights all at once and u go...they did the countdown small lights then big lights...when u floor it at the green light, u get a bad R/T...i floored it in the 3rd time right when the last yellow flashed and still got a crappy R/T...weird

Not bad R/T and E/T on the last one. I say always leave it in D4 or D5, screw SS.
I wouldn't torque break just because of our tranny, but definitely VSA off.

Nice work.

yup, stock tires still...the first run was ok with the tires since they were warm from my trip down to the track...the second time, i got such tire thump, more like smacking, the whole car bucked off the line...the third time was a little thump, but i burned the tires just a little and set myself on a good spot on the line

Hola!

Raced Scoot last night and had a blast...too bad it was my first time ever at a strip. I saw the lights and was way to lax in getting on the gas. My second and only other run of the evening had a better reaction time! .726! @ 93.12 couldn't believe that...it was against a riced/moded civic and he won @ 96.23 MPH. What am I suppose to be racing in SS, 3rd, 5th? I would guess no VSA right?

2,000 would be better than idle but I was thinking more like 3,000-4,500. That's what I do in my Pontiac. Don't know about the tranny though. That would definitely spin the tires off the line but I wouldn't use VSA. If you did spin, it would inhibit the RPM's.

Well, they say if you see the green light, you are late. Probably should work on launch. That's the most critical time right there. That can cost you as much as a half second, believe it or not. Some of the members (not me, I have not dragged my CL-S) have great reaction times and have broken into the high 14's. That would be my goal. Get those reaction times down to under 1 sec, closer to .5 and you will see a much more enjoyable end to your run. When I was a young-un I had .45 reaction time, now, I'd be lucky to break 1 sec. Age is a bitch!

agreed...must work on launch...i've come to realize that in my first 2 runs, the time difference between slamming my foot and the car actually responding was about a half a second...when i torque-braked the 3rd time, there was virtually no lag...i did it around 2K RPM, and my R/T went down significantly...guess u just gotta get used to it...i'd say to get a sub 1 sec R/T for the first time is a good start!! kudos Mike for your second run...wish i could stick around to grudge again

Those are some nice reaction times..

I assume that your where power braking to get those RT's under 1?? I would seriously watch that if you are, I don't want to get into the whole tranny thing, but that's probably the last thing you want to do is power brake.

Just my $.02.

anything over 2k and you will spin too much and get axle tramp.
my best times have been
ss
vsa OFF
no brake torque
2/3 shift at 7k

work on launch without leaving too much rubber
do it somewhere desolate, not at track after 3or 4 tries you will get the hang of it
g/l

Good runs, the 60s look great!!!

Just giving you a hard time, but I don't see how you won the first race looking at the numbers.

My girlfriend lives in Charlotte. I will be there this weekend. Are there any performance shops or anything that are worth going to. What about as far as hang outs at night. She is not into the whole car thing but I would like to check out some of the cars in the area. Keep a look out for my CL.MYCAR
