A response from TEIN on EDFC

Hi all,

Not sure if this response has been received by anyone else here but I asked about our cars and the EDFC module option and below is the response I received. Whats the difference with the TEIN SS-P? Is the only difference the pillowball upermounts?

"David,
Hello and thank you for your interest in TEIN High Performance Suspension. Unfortunately the Type SS Dampers will not be EDFC compatible you would need to purchase the Type SS-P Dampers. These come with Pillowball Upermounts with a shortened piston shaft to accommodate the motors.
Best regards,
Sales"

The TEIN SS piston shaft is too long for the CL. When you add the EDFC to the shaft you will have clearance issues with your hood. Therefore they came out with the TEIN SS-P, which BTW is more expensive than the SS by $300 I believe, that a shorter piston shaft to accomodate clearance issues.

Excelerate do you know if you are able to put the new pillow mounts from the ss-p set up on to the old ss setup? Just wondering because I wanted a TEIN coilover with that, but at the time they didn't make it.

I believe there was actually a post about this the other day saying that no it was not possible. Let me see if I can find that thread.

I personally think this was a bad move on TEIN's part not making the new pillow mount compatibe with the old SS kit .. it would certainly sell ALOT more EDFC's, to myself as well.
