Like I said before, when you have a jump on any car that does not have a major hp difference, you are going to win. I did a few runs with my friend who has a stock 2003.5 G35 Sedan, and I have a stock 2003 Cl Type S. I had one passenger which weighed 120 pounds, and he had none. But that shouldnt make much difference. We went from 65-110 the first time and I had him for 2 seconds then he had a constant 1 car lead to one ten. No one had a jump. I was in tiptronic mode and in the correct gear. Next run was from 60-90 he had a constant 1 car lead again. So the bottom line is the G35 Sedan is faster than you all thought, and dotn say something is wrong with my car because I raced an auto 2001 Cl Type S, which is one of my friends and beat it.

 

 

its an infiniti, they are nice quality cars. Also look, I prefer my leather seats over the G35 Seats, and some prefer things from the G35 over the Acura. All Im trying to do in this post is just tell all these bullshitters who think the G35 is a joke, that the G35 is no joke. Hell ya I love my Acura and my buying decision wouldnt be swayed by the G35, but all i want is for these dumb fucks to stop saying how the G35 is not fast. It is fast guys, it ties with me from a stop, and beats me on a roll. Not to mention it rapes us around the corners, so everyone on this forum who degrades the G35 by saying it has no perfromance is so wrong, and should just stop talkin about it! Overall, the Cl-S and G35 are great cars and a thumbs up

 

I would have to say that a passenger weight over a hundred pounds would actually make a difference. I am not in any way saying that the g35 sedan is a slouch, just that you two may have been compltely even rather than him beating you

 

Our CLS should have had 20HP more than the Sedan TLS, like their's do.. 280HP for the Coupe, and 260 for the sedan.

And yes, if I ever line up against a G35 of any style, I would always take it very seriously.

With headers, the CLS would be more than 280 HP.. you gain 0.3s in the 1/4 miles. Auto Vs Auto it is a tie.

 

even though i love the CL......overall, i'd take the G35 in a heartbeat.......and for cryin out loud, just stop it........neither the CL nor the G35 are race cars, face the facts, they're luxury coupes. if everyone is so worried about what will make them 0.003 faster, you shouldnt have bought a CL, should've went with a sportier, lighter car, not a heavy and loaded luxury cruiser. no matter what you do to you car, any Cobra, WS6, etc, will hand you your ass.

I could not shake a G35 sedan in a race the other day. He was on my butt, auto too. He did not gain but I got much respect for the car.

 

I had a G35 Sedan 5 AT for a loaner one day when my coupe was in the shop getting inspected, etc. As much as I loved my CLS VTEC roar, this sedan was a torquey BEAST. I'd say that race is a driver's race all the way....both cars are fast, but DIFFERENT in the way the power hits. Personally, I prefer the torque...which is why I no longer have an Acura.

 

tmk70, i agree completly. we love our cars, but lets not get all crazy by saying our cars are going to magically fly by all the G35's we see. Stock to stock, both cars come close with the G35 edging out slightly so i agree completly when you see its a drivers race. perception can make you see things quite different than they really are.

 

Without reading this thread, whomever said a G35 sedan is not fast is smoking some shit. Get real.

that is correct... but I spanked him from a 50-55 roll also when I was not supercharged...5th to 3rd... but I think he needed 5th to 2nd on his downshift instead of 5th to 3rd... who knows... I won.. he is my best friend and he knows how to drive.. we did it numerous times and I drove his car and vise versa and we still got the same result... The Stock 2002 WS6 got walked on hard.

 

dont tell them anything sick. they aint gonna listen. the sedans that i drive as loaners "feel" faster than my car. and i have a 6MT coupe........

When you own something you always have a bias towards what you own. People just need to be more realistic as to what their CL-S can and can not do. I think sometimes the lines of reality and imagination can get blurred.

Sick, they're slow!!!! One jumped on me off the line and was say about 1 full car length before I decided to get on it, then I walked him and pulled on him hard!

I drove a G35C manual...man these cars are SICK!!! Handling is so awesome on them too!
