uggghhh...no. Waste of time since you have a type-s. The only time I see it benefiting is if you did not have the Type-S, have a 3.5 liter conversion, and/or being boosted. Save your money for something bigger and better. Not necessarily meaning performance wise.

If you just install the magnaflow mufflers your not going to hear much of a difference unless you remove the exhaust resonator. And if you do decide it is too loud than its not hard to put back on. And removing the resonator is not something you can do yourself unless you have a welding machine.

Tust me, i have the magnaflow with no resonator setup on mine.

it sounds stupid loud without the resonator, put a magnaflow or slpII to tone it down a bit. also if you put a flowmaster hushpower where your stock resonator is supp. 2 be, it will sound nice low and deep. the hushpower provides broadband noise cancelling and will eliminate raspiness and high frequencies and leave you with a slightly quieter and mellower tone than the straight magnaflows alone. you can also try a magnaflow resonator with s2k cans and straight pipe with o2 cheater(to avoid check engine light) for nice sound and some gains. probably not worth it to go with a high flow cat since ours already has a high flow rate.

Here are some video clips. Magnaflow 14832 mufflers with resonator removed, all stock motor. About $300 parts and installed

I do not like how big those mufflers are. doesn't sound too bad. A little bubbly.
Side note I must have some sticky tires cause I can't get my CL to scream tires like that. Only in 1st & I have to try.

Would removing the resonator and leaving the stock mufflers do anything? I am looking for a little increase in sound, what do you guys think?

BTW, I have xs headers already.

I too want to know what is sounds like with the resonator removed. And kyle your car sounds badass, i'll prob end up removing the resonator and slapping on 2 magnaflow mufflers like you did. Im wondering how you chirp 2nd so hard, when I shift into 2nd my tires just make that loss of traction sound, I want them to bark like yours hahaha.

It gives a little bit more sound....hmmm ask rondog, I know he removed the resonator on his car.

As far as increase it's not going to do anything but make more sound.

The sound clip was with a complete stock motor. Iv since put an AEM cai and it sounds so much nicer! Im going to put up new clips after i get the XS Headers put on, im hoping the headers make it sound even better

i have a bone stock engine with a stock exhaust. i got the resonator cut out and welded a straight pipe in its spot for 30 bux at a muffler shop i know.as long as you dont have any leaks its sounds pretty good. it made the exhaust tone louder but not too loud where theres a drone in the cabin. i get complements on the sound of my exhaust alot that it sounds close to a g35. other than that i dint really get any power from it.

Do you have a Type-S? and is there any resonance? I was under the impression that the CL's don't have a resonator rather a mid-muffler. The TL's however have a resonator and the mid muffler that the CL's have. I removed both the mid muffler and resonator on my TL-S and it sounded like total shit.

There is a mid-muffler, but honestly it makes no difference, it is there as a resonator. I will be getting mine removed this weekend, and see what kind of difference it makes.

Here's new pics of my car. Yes they are magnaflows. They are sitting up a little higher because I cut out the "cut outs" for the exhaust. Hopefully those pics will work for you.

Guys i just came back from modifying my exhaust. With the mid-muffler cut out, and just a piece of straight pipe put in, it was unbearably loud. Even with a resonator it was still too loud. I think this is due to the headers being on there. I ended up having them put the mid-muffler back on, and they left the resonator too, because it was too much work to take it back out.

Do not take out your mid-muffler if you have headers.

Actually, everybody has their own idea of how loud their car should be. Putting headers on will not make your car louder. The resonator is there to keep the noise down. Changing that, the rear muffs or increasing cat-back piping size can change the exhaust note dramatically.

You think that was loud to you...You should have heard my car with full exhaust and no mufflers. It was extremely loud! I got sick of it and installed Magnaflow street mufflers on to keep the noise down.

I am buying an 18" cherry bomb that I will weld in, cause i really can't stand the ticking from the stock mid-muffler. Hopefully thats enough the quite down the exhaust. I am thinking of having them do a custom b-pipe with the cherry bomb in it. Maybe 2.25" piping. Its all going back to the stock mufflers, so I am not sure.

Yeah, im sure the bigger piping (2.5) should make the exhaust tone a lot more deeper. I have the cl-p and i am defineately looking to get great sound and performance with magnaflows that i just ordered. I am aslo going to remove the resonators.

A cherry bomb is a glass-pack resonator.
