RES, Not Fitting??
RES, Not Fitting??
Last night I put on the AEM pulleys and went to install the RES. When it came time to close the hood I did so slowly with a small piece of Clay bar on it. Well it touched the hood!!!
On the '01 I had about 1/4 Inch clearance; here I have zero clearance. I know there are variations on build dimensions, but 1/4 Inch seems like too much. I just wonder if the '03 6-Speed's engine sits a little differently in the engine bay, maybe slightly tilted or raised??
Oh well, this still does not deter my going to the dyno in the morning. I was swapping it there anyway and never planned on closing the hood. If it does pan out I'll just mill it down some and get the fit right, I'll also try to determine where the differences are.

Well, there ARE different engine mounts on the 6-Speed.
Remember, thats what caused the Headers to be revised.

It was hard to tell if there was an increase in power. In truth there did seem to be something to it particularly from 3500 on up. But it can also be optimism I felt.
Tomorrows dyno should give us some hard numbers though.

the good news bad news on that is...when the real RES comes out the 6mt owners will probablly have a problem on there hands as it will not be easily milled... good news is there arent too many 6mt owners
1 Vote for a dyno run in the evening or on a cold day...
I'd hate to see a dyno on one of those days where people are trading their forged wheels for a spoonful of crushed ice and a set of bricks

But if it does gain power I'll go ahead and modify it for final installation. Then come this winter I'll go back for some more runs, there are a few other things I'd like to try anyway.
As shown in the below dyno it never panned out. At least for what I tried. It didn't really hurt too much but certainly didn't gain anything.
I had hoped power would be had but that was never the case. But that is what testing is about.
I put out a plea to Doug which I would sign an NDA to get the design he used in order to produce a functional unit for mass production but never received a reply.
