RES ( does anyone remember this ?)
back in the day there was the original maker of the 3.5 and he had come up with some product he was calling RES the expanded the top section of our upper intake manifold ... but wasnt just a space as we had members try to duplicate this ... there was mention of a resonator in this expanded section carbon fiber and also mentioned something to do with technology that has been in sport bikes before ... so now ive been reading about this 09 type S manifold and ive seen pics of the manifold itself with cover off... no butterflies ...then i saw one obscure pic where the butterflies are in the cover ... one how do these work and two im thinking aobut trying the spacer that was made before along with stock manifold and use both butterflies ... just not even sure at this point if its possible and if it would work or if it would yeild gains above the straight swap to the 09 ...
I remember that but nothing came of it. I bought my ported im and runners off p2r's accord, and he wasn't using the butterfly and has the hole where the imrc welded closed. Also the air valves on the runners are welded too. Not sure how ideal this setup will be. I think I might lose a lil torque below 2500 rpm.
I remember hearing about it a few times but I heard the carbon fiber fins were snapping or something along those lines. I thought I had a pic of the top cover but I dont. Theres nothing special, just picture our top cover with the IMRC mounted in the middle.
Last I heard the guy that worked at Rick case Acura, decided to part ways with Acura for good. His idea what ever it was went with him.
At this point I'd use a newer manifold or a P2R one & make due.
I remember someone making a spacer & testing it but there wasn't enough volume created to do anything. Someone suggested the missing part was a secondary intake port to push air through the setup.
