replacing clock spring/reel: new or used?
hey guys,
so my SRS light came on, and i think it's due to me screwing up my clock spring/reel (the thing that turns the wires under your steering wheel). there is white powder which i am assuming is the dried up grease from mine.
i didn't center the reel the last time i put it in so it was turned past its natural rotation, which made it squeak and rattle. so i need to replace it regardless if the SRS light is caused by it.
my question is: the car is from 03, so the "newest" used reel i can get is from 2003. should i even bother? i know that the grease can dry up (which it also did with mine), so should i just buy a reel from the dealership?
cost would be $60USD (online ebay) vs. $175 from an american dealership.
thanks
