Replace GSR with RSX or CL ?

Hello all, I have a 94 GS-R that needs replacing. The CL is a very nice car but I do not know if I can live with the Sport-Shift. So I considering the new RSX Type S when it comes out. Has anyone else here moved from a GSR to a CL? How do you find the Sport-Shift compares to a good manual like the GS-R has? Any input is appreciated.

I know we have at least a couple owners who traded from ITRs and at least one who traded an S2000. If you're a serious manual tranny guy I wouldn't recommend the CL. The SS just doesn't cut it. On the other hand, the extra luxury and power is awful nice

I went from an Integra Type R to a CL Type S. There are a few others on this board that did too. I don't really like the sport shift feature because it is just too slow. If you can wait for the RSX, a CL with a 6 speed manual might be available too.

Tough choice, but I would recommend RSX Type S since you have an integra now, both cars should have excellent handling, while CL is bigger so its handling ability would not be as agile.

Well, how much are you willing to spend?

Here are a few suggestions [under $35k]:

Acura RS-X Type S
Honda S2000
Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VII
Nissan SE-R
Nissan Maxima 30th
Subaru WRX
Toyota Celica GT-S [must s/c or t/c...heh]

I know I said Toyota, but I think it's one of the ugliest Japanese cars on the market! Better? :P

The Maxima would probably the best choice if you want a combination of manual, speed and most of the CL comfort/features.

Soon: PS2 and Navi/DVD encoder, Ground Control coilover setup (if they make them)

Thanks for your input everyone. For a lot of reasons I want another Acura. I have certainly been leaning RSX Type S. It seems to be getting excellect reviews from all the magazines that have 'first-drive' articles out on it this week. The rumoured 6-speed for the CL-S would defietely make that car more attractive though. I have test drove a CL-S and the SS really hides it's true potential.

Sport shift is nowhere close to a manual trans from a GS-R. If the type s will come w/ manual in 2002, maybe you should wait and test that out. If you like driving a manual, then I would stick with one. Only if the CLS was stick..sigh
