Removing AEM

Hey, I'm getting an ICEBOX. I haven't really looked at what I have to do to get the AEM CAI out. Comptech installation guide says I have to take the bumper off to install. Do I have to take the bumper off to get the CAI out, or is there a way around it?

i never removed my bumper for the install either. just loosten the driver side fenderwell and pull of the filter... other than that you can snake the cai around to get it out.

I just looked at it and decided I was an idiot for asking in the first place. I can just take off the splash gaurd on the bottom.

If you have the AEM already in the car, you can prob do the icebox in like 15 mins.

I'll probably keep if for a little while. It's silver. I'll post it on the black market if I decide to sell it.

Silly question, but why go through the hassle of removing the AEM, installing the more expensive Icebox, then having to sell the AEM? Is the extra ~1-3 HP really worth it?

Not silly. The AEM was on the car when I got it. the filter is really dirty, and I know I can easily clean it. Where I work there is a lot of crap in the air, and I had to constantly clean the intake in my other car. The position of the filter on the AEM makes it a pain in the ass to take care off. I'm also not a huge fan of the sound out of the AEM. I liked the Icebox a bit more. Looks better too. It is definately not for a performance gain, and I'm not really planning on selling the CAI.

Did you stick with the filter that came from Comptech or replace it with something better?

I don't understand why everyone is afraid to take off the front bumper. It takes like 15 minutes tops and is easy. It's a Honda bumper and the front grill isn't even attached to the bumper like the TL's. So just take off the bumper. It is easier to work on the car and then easier to install an intake.
