Okay guys, I have the old ugly remote, that came with the 01 and 02 models, I want the remote that came with the 03's like the ones that sold here... https://acurazine.com/forums/car-parts-sale-361/2-oem-acura-key-fob-remotes-806886/

My question is, I have read somewhere, "dont remember where" that the remote that came with the 03's will not work for those of us with 01/02's. Can someone clarify this for me lol. If it wont, are the guts/computer/circuit board interchangable between remotes?

I'd really like to have the switchblade key, but I just assume that isnt possible lol.

Oh and sterering wheel/airbag I would like to upgrade my steering wheel to the one that came with the 03's as well, and read somewhere that it cant be done either, can anyone confirm that, all I want is the part with the chrome acura logo, the center part. I dont know the proper name for this. Thanks in advance.

 

FYI, the 02 & 03 remotes are the same. Only 01's were different. And all 3 years work with each other.

Steering wheel? same steering wheel. The air bag is different in 03. You have to replace the airbag if you wanted the Acura emblem & the wiring for 03 is different then 01 & 02.

 

Sorry, no help here. Just wanted to say your post made me realize that things are always relative. I have the '03 remote and was just thinking that it would be nice if everything was integrated into one key like in my other cars. But then of course I would start wanting keyless...hell thanks for making me appreciate my fob.

 

Okay good deal as far as remotes go then, that sucks as far as steering wheel "airbag" goes, sounds like itd be more hassel than its worth I only want it because of the shiny Acura emblem in the center lol. But thanks for clarifying for me though. When searching on ebay I always see the remote I have currently listed with the 01/02 is why I said that lol. Sorry

 

So continuing the key fob discussion, what about using one of the newer switchblade fob's the newer Acura's come with?

Yea, I agree, Id much prefer that key over them all but I doubt its possible.

 

I don't know, I feel like all they have to do is cut a copy of your key for the switchblade, then "sync" (is the best word I can think of for it) the keyless with your cars system.

I agree, Im taking mine to the stealership this week for the SRS recall, I think I might just ask them about that and see what they say. Thanks for that idea, but Im sure they'll say "its not that simple". lol

 

Definitely like that idea, its not quite as pretty as the 03 steering wheels but if its available in chrome, I will buy. Who do I order from lol?

Measure the diameter of the steering wheel logo (I believe its around 2.5 inches) then get someone on ebay selling Acura logo decals to make you one in that size. Like I said in the thread, you can get any color to color match your car or I'm sure you can get one chrome colored.
