i think compustar is really cool but yet very overpriced.
Directed Electronics is about to release their LCD 2-way alarm & i'd trust their products over anybody else's except for Clifford (who doesn't make an LCD 2-way alarm yet).

btw, you need a extra key with chip for the remote starter to work.. so bring it to wherever you are getting the car done.

i have an avant guard 4 from clifford, and I also sell all DEI products, which now owns and manufacturers clifford. The new python 1600 esp will be very nice because it is 2way, meaning your remote shows you that your are armed, started, trunk is closed, things of that nature. Cliffords, since being bought by DEI have lost all reliability, because DEI does not know how to manufacture such complex devices, but the alarms, that they design, such as viper and python will give you much more reliability and one other huge factor......... You can actually start your car from more than 20 feet away with any python, because they use xhf antenna's, to recieve the signal, cliffords antennas are less superior in that respect.

DEI makes Python and Clifford. Are you saying both are not reliable? Or just Clifford because they are more complex. I'm leaning towards the Viper 550. But, I would really like a 2-way when I'm downtown (and near my car).

Clifford is not reliable because it is not DEI's design, but they had to take over manufacturing halfway through a model year. The Python 1600esp will page the remote when your car is set off, and tell you what is going off, Viper is good, but Python is identical, for less money, IDENTICAL. If you have a local dealer that carries python you may want to check it out, their autostart and alarm combo is the pyt1500esp, for around 400 installed with keyless entry autostart, starterkill(haha), and parking light flash. The 1600esp will not be out till around august or so.

i sell them, since DEI has taken over production, I have had a 100% defective rate with clifford alarms. Anyways, I know what i am talking about, I own a clifford, so does my room mate, and half the people I work with. They are the absolute best for security, no one will argue with that, but lately their reliability especially with their proximity sensors, has gone down. anyways, the 1600 esp is its own alarm, and will not integrate to any other systems. For those of you who don't know the name python, DEI is just a marketing group who owns Viper, python, hornet, wasp, sidewinder, Valet, Clifford, and some others, so if you haven't heard of them, sorry but this is the largest alarm company in the world.
