Recurring Climate Control Problem

Has anyone else experienced the erratic behavior of the climate control ??? For some reason when the air is on, if you have it set to around 65 degrees, sometimes the recirculated air light will go on and off, AND, the temperature setting will go all the way down to 20 degrees !

I am asking because, I have seen other people with this problem, and they said to get it replaced. I had my car in last week, and they SAID they replaced the control unit.

ONE DAY after I got the car back, IT IS DOING THE SAME THING ! It's even WORSE now -- with the 'supposed' new unit. Yesterday, I hit the AUTO button, and the thing wouldn't even TURN ON !!! NOTHING ! NO AIR, NADA !

Has this happened to anyone else ? I must say I'm a bit disappointed with the service at my dealership -- and it's a shame, cause the service manager is a really nice guy --

I also had to go back TWICE already for the whole 'wiper and washer fluid' issue.

I had to tell THEM about THIS site -- they didn't even know it EXISTED !

20 degrees? I thought the lower limit was like 60 or so. Mine will go to recrirculate when I first get in when it's hot. It then cools off and opens to fresh air. No problems at all with mine. Matter of fact, it's one of the better AC systems I have ever owned.

HEHE -- I registered a LONG time ago, but never really posted that much because I didn't have the time to do so ! I didn't even get a chance to lurk that often, but with the recent problems, I came BACK to the site and hopefully I'll be able to contribute more !

I've had my car for almost a year now as well.

In any event -- this damn problem is driving me NUTS ! LOL!

I had the "mysterious 20 degree reading" as well. The 1st visit to the dealer they couldn't "duplicate the problem", but I found by twisting the knob around 65-66 degrees I could make it happen more often. By the 2nd visit it would stick at 20 degrees and they replaced the control unit. Not one problem since. Sounds like they didn't replace yours...........Acura is aware of the faulty modules.

Same thing is starting to happen on mine. Its only done it about 3 times now but I am trying to figure out how to duplicate it befor I go to the dealer. I know as soon as I tell them to fix it they are going to want to see it happen....thats just how they are. I will try keeping it on 65 or so...thanks everyone!

I was able to duplicate mine the SAME way -- move the dial pretty rapidly from around 63-67 degrees, and you WILL see it !

Also, hit the recirculate button kinda hard, and you will see it shut the entire system OFF sometimes, and you can see the thing switch to 20 degrees as well.

How's this -- I was REPLICATING it, while I was driving and talkin to the Service Manager at my dealership at the same time. He said, he couldn't believe it, they installed a BRAND NEW unit, and they said they KNEW of the problem.

But how the hell do you EVER know if they do what they SAY they did ???

It sure sounds like a defective control head. The 20c readout is usually a dead giveaway. Maybe the one they put in is bad also. They should be check it for you again.
