Rear Window Tint

I got my windows tinted this past weekend. 20% all around. The problem is that the place who did it computer cut the tint so it was cut right below the mesh on the back window and around the brake light. The guy said if he was to tint the mesh it would look good now but later on it would turn silver, then white and look like crap.

I saw several posts with people who put a black vinyl strip over the mesh. If I was to do this, would it be better to do it on the inside or outside?

Also, since I have a spolier and plan on keeping it, is their any easy way to get tint or anything over the brake light without taking out the rear shelf?

Thx.

If he said this, he's NOT a good tinter.

I'd demand he either do the whole window, or take it off get a refund & go elsewhere.
Some tinters do a good job covering the dots others don't. I've had 2 cars tinted over the dots & not a problem.

My tint guy did the same thing, but hes been doing it for years. Just said he'd have to take out the seat, and didn't want to mess with it.

My rear window got tinted in August 2003 and has been through 2 very hot summers in SoCal and Indiana. My tint looks totally normal from the outside, and from the inside it looks ok. no bubble spots or white marks or anything. I have a feeling your tinter is a lazy ass.

PS, all my windows were done (minus the windshield) for $220.

mine isn't tinted either.. i was told that it wouldn't stick good where the mesh is.. the tinter's probably get tired of people coming back with peeling tent and it is cheaper just to tint underneath...

Find a better tinter.........

This summer marks my third year with my tint and it still looks perfect. My tinter went over the dot matrix and tinted behind the third brakelight without removing anything. If I remember I will take pics when I get

You have a horrible tinter.. Mine is over the third brake light and the dot matrix, lifetime warranty. Came out to $150.

$140 here!

The tint hasn't stuck to the dot matrix on the top of the rear window very good since day one. It's not really noticable unless you really look for it so I don't care. Besides, if it gets real ugly, it's got a lifetime warranty. Oh, and I actually took the back seat out before I took the car to him so he could tint over the 3rd brake light.

I have seen a couple of things. Either they put the tint over the mesh, they cut it below and color it in by hand, or they put solid tape on the mesh. I haven't tinted my windows because I didn't want my rear window to look smaller in the mirror. Best method I've seen is to hand color in the holes in the mesh. Classy look.

i would find a new tinter. difinetly cover the whole back window, so find someone to remove the back seat and the brake light. my guy sanded the dot matrix down just enough so that the tint would not release. he did a supurb job. its been over 3 yrs and still looks great. and if you dont trust them then remove it yourself and then take to them. it might even safe you some money. good luck

They don't have to remove the back seat. They can just use one of their tools and slip it behind the brake light.
